Those who have/are co-sleeping - a few questions.

I just have a few questions as I have a DD who is 10 months old who is still cosleeping. Just was wondering:

What was your reason for choosing to co-sleep?
At what age did you start co-sleeping and when did you finish?
How did you get them to move from co-sleeping to cot/bed?
Has their been any long term difficulties keeping them in their bed after this?

I thank you all in advice. Any advice for getting them into the cot after co-sleeping for 6 months please let me know :)

DS - coslept from 6 weeks as completely exhausted. Stopped at 4/5m as going back to work at 6m when sometimes I couldn't be there. Used PUPD with cry down. Bloody horrific and didn't work.

DD - coslept from day 1 by choice. Was lovely. Started transferring to cot at 6/7m again as going back to work at 9m. Did it v slowly by putting her in the cot asleep in the early evening, then allowing back in with me about 10ish, then moved the time back until she was spending the whole night in the cot. Then worked on putting her down more awake.

Basically followed no cry sleep solution in the main.

If I hadn't been returning to a job which means some nights away, I would have carried on co sleeping much longer. I miss it.

We did not choose to co-sleep, DS just screamed constantly when put down so he slept with us from newborn up until 8-9 months. Putting him down on his front made all the difference to settling him on his own at this stage but I can't deny there was some crying involved aswell.

He still comes in with us most mornings for sleepy cuddles about half an hour before we get up, I love it. Co-sleeping all night every night was hard though.

We cosleep with our 18mth old dd. She has eczema and gets itchy in the night and this is what started it really - as well as the fact I was bfing and it's a godsend to be able to sleep and feed. Not sure how we will manage to end it until she's 2/3 and her lang improves but we can now transfer her to the cot on falling asleep and she will then come back in with us at 11ish. However she is up a lot in the night with itching and to be honest the nights where I've been in work I'm often happy to go to bed with her!! I love cosleeping but constant nibbling/feeding is annoying so we are night weaning again. Before having dd I was all for self-settling etc...however after having her it now seems weird the thought of putting your most precious baby in a room all on their own ShockShock
