14mo and shoes

Hi there, my 14mo DS is walking everywhere...barefoot! I'm in the antipodes so thank goodness it is summer. I have tried him in three different types of shoes over the past couple of weeks but he just sits down, screams and claws at his feet until I take them off. He refuses to stand in shoes, let alone walk. Any tips for getting him used to them?

I had a similar problem with my little one. She is 15mo and at the point where she wants to walk outside but was screaming blue murder when I came near her with shoes. I am happy to her to walk barefoot inside but is just an issue when she goes outside for me! I brought some stonz booties which have been brilliant for us. They are super easy to get on as just slide over the top of whatever is already on feet (think the idea is you can put over shoes but thats just wishful thinking as far as Im concerned!) so I just put on over socks. They then just have a couple of ties to keep on the feet. No pushing and fighting to get on the feet and no velcro or laces for her to undo. They are very basic but warm and waterproof. I have the liners but not using at the mo as its not THAT cold and makes it harder to get them on! They are not cheap (although it seems no childrens shoes are!) but will last longer than a normal sized shoe due to the design. They might not suit everyone but like I said they have been a godsend for me and made life a lot easier (and look really cute). Am sure there must be other similar brands but these were the ones I found first so may be worth a look:

Hope this helps.

Just reread that post back and I sound like a rep for the company!!! Apologies - Im not! Although if they want to send me a couple of pairs for promoting them I would not complain :)

Aw no... We'll on the other hand my ds is obsessed with shoes... It was one of his first words and he goes around saying it all the time and trying to take people's shoes. He chased my friends lo for about half an hour ons day trying to put her socks on lol, it's a bit worrying!
