Too old to boogie?

Went to party last weekend, and after the kids had dominated the dance floor for a while, the DJ asked the mums and dads to join in, so we did. DS1 (11) completely mortified. He says it was like watching a disco in an old people's home. Apparently my attempt at the cha-cha-slide was too sad for words (wish I could reproduce his imitation of me doing it).
Is it time at the geriatric age of 38 to hang up my dancing shoes or should I be defiant and continue strutting my stuff (I thought I was rather fabulous, which may be the problem... )
And am I the only one who resents the insistence on golden oldies for the over 30s instead of modern stuff?

It's HIS age that's the problem, not yours.
Whatever you did at that party would be humiliating to him. Little pest. I expect someone said something really nice about your dancing to him.

Reminds me of the horror on my sons face.
"oh, no they're dancing!"
Then all the kids in the garden pressed their noses against the windows.
I guess they are now scarred for life.

never too old to dance imo!! maybe go to a nightclub for adults, and leave the kids at home with a babysitter (of course!)

Hmmm, like the blackmail idea...
Could threaten to go one step worse and work on the middle-aged-parent disco-strut with elbows flailing. So much fun ahead

yeah, a few choruses of 'I'm not a girl, Not yet a woman!', or worse, imitations of Shakira, in a skimpy top and DS will be begging for you to go back to the original dancing!

Think kids must have been embarrassed by their parents doing anything remotely fun since the dawn of time.. they like to think of you as just existing to do things for them!

You go for it and threaten the Britney if he whinges too much!
