And how old are they?

Trying to work out what is right.

Mine are 4 (nearly 5), 6 and 7. They go to bed at 7pm, 7.30 and 7.30 plus half hour reading in bed.

What time do my kids go to bed? Not early enough! It comes as a massive shock to them that every night they must sleep. Mine are 14 12 and 8 so its 10.30 9.30 and 8.30

Mine are older but I will answer your question
DS1 is 16 and DS2 is 13 and they go when ever they want.
I don't need to police bed time anymore unless we have to be u excetionaly early next day (e.g to catch a plane)

2 and 3 years. Both between 8.30-9pm ( and still nap in day)

MikeLitoris Thu 20-Jun-13 15:34:25

12yo goes at 10pm

9yo goes at 9pm

2yo goea anywhere between 7.45-9pm depending on how she naps during the day.

This is on a school night. Weekends we play it by ear.

My son goes to bed anytime between 7.30 and 8. I start his bath and whatnot at 7. I know it's quite late for a 2 year old but his nan usually pops round at 7 (she lives 5 seconds away) so I usually let him stay up for her, and he's always good as gold just before and during bedtime so never in a rush to get rid of him, lol. Also, he sometimes doesn't nap until about 2, so if he wakes up at 4 then it's almost as if he wakes up for 5 mins, then packed off back to bed if his bed time is any earlier.

We like our sleep in this family.

DS is now 15 so goes to sleep whenever the hell he feels like it hmm
but he always had earlyish bedtimes.

It was 7pm from being a baby until at least 7 or 8 years old.
Then it gradually got a little later - about 9pm by the age of 12/13.

We always had to get up by 6.30am for work/nursery/school so early bedtimes were a must.

3 year old 7pm on the dot ( no nap during the day).Same at weekends.

11 year old 9pm during the week and 10 at weekends.

Dd 15 whenever she wants really but not later than 10.30ish on a school night.
Ds1 5 has hated sleep his whole life and doesn't seem to need it. He goes to bed generally At about 9.30/10 but is allowed to read etc and still wakes early, he just never seems to tire.
Ds2 6 months feeds every two hours so doesn't really apply.

Chubfuddler Thu 20-Jun-13 15:49:11

DS and DD are 6 and 2. They go up together at 6.45 but DS reads or plays quietly in his room in pjs while I settle dd so she us asleep by about 7.30 and then his stories and cuddles takes his bedtime to 8pm. I'd like them both asleep 30 minutes earlier tbh.

Myu 5 year old has always loved his sleep since he was a baby. He seems to get almost ill looking when he's tired. He go up about 7:15 and read and have a chat, lights out at 7:30 and he goes straight to sleep.

DS2 is 17 months and took forever to sleep for more than an hour and half at a time but he now finally and thankfully goes to bed at 7pm and sleeps through til 7:30.

I feel very lucky with both their sleep to be honest.

Around 9:30-10, age 5-13.

Kendodd Thu 20-Jun-13 19:58:59

Sounds like mine go to bed very early! I thought this was normal though?

IwishIwasmoreorganised Thu 20-Jun-13 20:02:05

5 and 7 and both go to bed at 7pm and sleep until 7am.

It sounds a bit robotic, but they're tired so I can't see any point in changing it yet.

AmandaLF Thu 20-Jun-13 20:02:39

Ds is 12 months and goes to bed between 6-6.30pm. He still naps through the day and wakes between 6 and 7 in the morning.

Kendodd Thu 20-Jun-13 20:07:18

Mine sleep until 7am as well, almost to the dot.

Figgygal Thu 20-Jun-13 20:08:34

18months 7.30 and he is always ready for bed by then!!

IsThatTrue Thu 20-Jun-13 20:11:04

6 and 8, get ready at 6.30 then stories, in bed by 7.15, reading until 7.30 and 8 respectively.

Every night, unless they are exceptionally tired then its moved to 7 and 7.30.

dufflefluffle Thu 20-Jun-13 20:13:57

4 - goes to bed at 7:30
10 - goes to bed at 8:30.
Same every night unless we have visitors staying.
10 yo went to bed (and sleep) at 7pm until the age of 7!
I didn't realise how lucky I was until DC came along and is not so fond of sleep.

Wishihadabs Thu 20-Jun-13 20:15:28

Dd 6 8:30 Ds 9 9 officially often later through. Never needs to be woken for school.

insanityscratching Thu 20-Jun-13 20:22:08

Dd2 who is 10 doesn't seem to need to sleep unfortunately. I send her to bed at 10pm during the week she reads until 11pm or even later. At weekends I go to bed before she does and Daddy generally shepherds her up some time after midnight.
My others, now adults, used to have more normal bedtimes.

Hulababy Thu 20-Jun-13 20:23:28

11y DD - lights off about 9pm. She often goes up a bit before to read.
Weekends and holidays - flexible

BlingLoving Thu 20-Jun-13 20:23:43

Ds 2 goes to bed at about 7:30. Earlier if he has skipped his nap or slept badly the night before, and slightly later if he has had a good long nap during day. He falls asleep either instantly, if he's tired, or will chat to himself for up to 40 minutes if he's not. He tends to sleep until about 7:30 most mornings.

The key thing for us though is that he is getting enough. If he's not, he's cranky and unhappy. And he seems to learn so much more when he sleeps well.

schooldidi Thu 20-Jun-13 20:24:00

Dd1 is 13 and goes off to her room between 8:30 and 9. I don't police when lights go off but it varies by how gripping her book is.

Dd2 is 3 and she's normally asleep by 9. She still naps in the day a lot.

soupmaker Thu 20-Jun-13 20:26:15

DD, 5, goes to bed by 7.30 on school nights. Bit later at weekends if weather is good and playing outside. She sleeps for 11-12 hours every night.
