What does your baby wear?

DS is 12 weeks. He is still in baby gros the vast majority of the time. I think they look so comfy and cosy and are also easy for me to get on / off him and to wash.

However, I've noticed among nct friends and at various groups and classes we go to that by this age most of the boys are now wearing trousers, jeans, dungarees with socks and tops.

Am I being weird? Will these folks think I am too lazy to dress my son?! He does get clean clothes every morning and wears different sleep suits in bed at night. The few times I've put him in trousers he looks less comfy but mainly it's like he looks like a baby dressed up as a little boy rather than just a snuggly little baby. Not sure if I'm being weird!!

I kept my DD in sleep suits for a lot of the first 4-5 months. They are really comfy and I didn't want tight things around her tummy. I tried dresses but thought they looked odd as they couldn't fall. She lived in dungarees a lot when crawling as they were good on the knees and didn't fall off like trousers.
Until she can object to her current clothes I'm enjoying it!

They've got all their lives to wear real clothes! Leave the comfy baby gro's on - proper baby wear!

DS is now six months. For the first four months, he wore vests and babygros. As the weather got warmer he started wearing rompers (basically footless babygros) and now he wears either rompers or vests with dungarees.

He has years to wear trousers and tops, and they are so impractical at this age, always having to pull tops down as they ride up babies' backs. In my opinion anyway!

I'm in exactly the same boat! My 12 wo DS wears mainly baby gros, but at a recent NCT meet up the other babies all had "clothes" on. Stupidly I rushed out and bought some real clothes.

Obviously DS doesn't care what he wears, but he seems more comfy in baby gros.

For the moment I am keeping him in his baby gros, he is only going to be this little for a short while!

My DS is eight months and still wears baby gros. Another mum at baby group commented on his nice pyjamas the other day, being really sarcastic. I don't care, he's happy and comfy and they are mostly clean. I'd wear pjs all day if I could.

Grown men are wearing onesies these days, they're very à la mode you know! :) DS spent his first 6 months almost exclusively in sleepsuits and is only now wearing shorts and tshirts (7mo).

Oh, and he can't wear tshirts with collars because he's totally bald - he'd look like Harry Hill were we to dress him like that!

Mine is almost 12 months and I dress him in rompers - short or long legged - or in popper vests and dungarees. Trousers, especially jeans, look so uncomfy round the waist.

He wore babygrows for months though, mostly because they won't keep socks on.

my DD was in babygros for at least 4 months. she grew so quickly it was cheapest and easiest! my mil often complained that she was always in pyjamas ...
she is 7mo now and has a few little clothes but mainly she wears fairly cheap leggings and tshirts which are comfortable and practical for her crawling, rolling and dribbling habits

My four all wore mostly babygro's, footless rompers, jersey dungarees and jersey trousers and tops. DD used to have some fleece dresses that I put on over a babygro for 'posh'.

I think when they start crawling they need something a bit thicker on the knees. DS3 wears mostly Frugi jersey lined dungarees at the moment, knee protection and room for his cloth nappy!

Visited our 3 week old niece at the weekend and she was in a short sleeved nappy length frilly dress, her little scrawny arms and legs were all mottled. I was willing a poonami so SIL would have to change her.

Keep him in the baby gros! My DD is 10 weeks and we received so many little girl outfits- dresses and frilly pants and tiny shoes and she is not comfortable in them at all. Yes they are cute, but so impractical. She has grown quickly so I've bought some leggings that she can wear with long sleeved vests as I was told she's look like an urchin if we simply cut the feet out of the baby gros! But she is not as comfy in them as the baby gros so they are just for emergencies!

No, you're absolutely right. I kept DD in babygrows til she was around six months? apart from the odd special occasion. I got lots of disapproving looks, but the world is full of idiots and its possibly the least controversial odd thing we do.

My 12 month old just wears vests (long or short sleeved depending on weather) and jogging bottoms. His thighs are too fat to fit into trousers. Also, it is more comfortable. I have no inclination to put him in faffy dungarees or trousers with zips etc. He is learning to walk and crawls everywhere - it is practical.

Crikey no you're totally doing the most comfortable thing for your baby. Babygrows and rompers are designed for babies, anything with a waistband is just minaturised adult clothes and will always be less comfortable, babies don't have a waist so trousers will dig in.

DD2 is 9 months and still in babygrows, they're lovely, soft and cuddly and I know she is comfortable. If it's hot she has a romper or a dress but I've not put anything else on her yet.

Ultimately it is your choice, and what other people ar doing is their choice, but don't feel pressured into changing just because others are.

DD1 was in babygro's until about three maybe four months, then vest and soft rompers and dungarees about five of six months when she got mobile

DD2 will be likewise as she will have her sisters wardrobe! Only difference is size - DD2 at eleven days old is in the babygro's DD1 wore at three months!

My DD wore babygros till 3 months at which point I switched to outfits every day, mainly because we had a massive selection of gorgeous hand-me-down outfits. She is currently wearing (at nearly 5 months) soft trousers, a vest, a cute top, socks and sock-ons, to keep her socks on. Some days she wears a long sleeved vest, a dress and tights.
She doesn't seem uncomfortable and when she is in a dress she loves pulling up the hem and chewing on it :)

Now when she wears a babygro, it does look like she is in pyjamas, because that's what she wears to bed!

Sleep suits, romper suits and jersey dungarees for my little 11 week old boy. I do like nice soft dungarees, not denim ones or anything with lots of pockets. I don't like trousers, especially as he is usually in a cloth nappy so trousers have to fit over that. He ends up looking like a weeble!

Babygros all the way here too. DS wore them for about the first 8 months, east for me, comfy for him.

From this thread you'd think that all babies are in babygros except for a minority in outfits, yet from what I see at baby groups, going around the shops etc, babies are pretty much all in tops and trousers, except really tiny babies.

I still put my 14 month old ds in babygrows for days at home. When we go out somewhere he usually wears jogging bottoms, rompers, dungarees etc.

You can buy really soft 'jeggings' that are comfortable he sometimes wear these.

Baby gro until 7 months. Miss them at 9 months, so easy. Clothes cuter though. I admired the mums who dressed their tiny ones in sweet outfits but I am basically too lazy.
