My main problem is how do I get dd1 my 22 month old to sleep longer she's only getting 7-8 hours a night then gets grumpier and more tantrum prone throughout the day and wants a 3 hour nap which I allow her cos i need a break from her grumpiness by then too but every bloody morning she wakes
up at 5am and we can't re- settle her she just screams that she wants upConfused. Any advice muchly appreciated am so tired! ShockShockShock

Have you tried wake yo sleep? I'm trying it at the moment due to 5am or earlier starts (DS is 16mths). He woke at 6am today! Though my alarm went at 4am to stir him!

You need to be shortening that nap so she gets more sleep at night. At that age, if my DS slept more than 1.5 hours during the day he was a monster at night. Be patient, you will probably have a few days-a week of her being very grumpy while you're trying to change her sleep habits!

22mo DTs have an hour and fifteen minutes max or they don't go to bed at night or wake ridiculously early!

What time does she go to bed? Ds (20mo) goes at 6.30pm and sleeps until 7am most days. He'll only have a 45min nap though, 90mins if I'm lucky :)

Thanks I'll bite the bullet and shorten or avoid the daytime napGrin

She's been going down at 8.30pm so not too early.

I'd try putting her down earlier, say by 7pm, if you haven't tried that already. Could be she's overtired to sleep for that long during the day. Good luck!

I've just shortened DS's (16mo) nap to 30-40 mins I had 3 days of crying to go to bed by 5pm and having to spend 4-7 constantly playing with him to keep him up but on day 4 he was fine woke himself up after 30 mins and sleeping 7-7. DS has always been a terrible sleeper so I've had constant battles with him on one of my threads someone told me that all sleep habits can be changed in 3 days and it's certainly been the truth with DS it's just not giving in during the 3 shit days that's the key.
