Sleep regression at 9 months(5 Posts)
The lengthy naps did cross my mind too - try limiting it to no more than 2 hours and see what happens, and not later than 3.30pm wake up time.
Thanks valium and silverangel
Co-sleeping worked for one night but not thereafter, she has cried hard whilst in bed with us and woken up just the same but we do bring DD in after 5am if she's awake for the day and one of us chats to her.
Not sure about teeth as she's not putting anything to her mouth.
Am thinking about nap shortening but atm the lack of night time sleep makes me want her to have them as she's so cranky and uncoordinated.
4 weeks? ahhh I'm not sure when this started but wow, I think we're at breaking point now... oohh hum, gulp.
We resorted to co-sleeping with DTs during the 9month regression - it was the only was for any of us to get any sleep. We did it for a couple of weeks and then got toughby lying down on the floor in their room if they cried but not picking up and no talking / eye contact.
It was an awful phase but it did get better, about 4 weeks I think but the lack of sleep is an absolute killer.
Could it be teething related as well?
Also might be time to start cutting down her daytime naps - mine were on two a day at 9 months, half an hour at 10 and then an hour-ish at 11.30.
Just keep going, it could be completely unrelated to the op, children do regress now and again with sleep especially around this age.
Would co sleeping be better as she obviously craves your comfort?
Lack of sleep is a killer x
Hi everyone, calling for help or just a hand hold please.
Our DD is up every 1.5.hours screaming and rolling in bed, we're not able to calm her easily and it can take an hour to get her settled.
She has a good nap routine for 2-3 hours in the day and we have a bedtime routine that has worked to relax her before now.
She had a big operation 3 weeks ago and we weathered bad nights for 2 weeks and then she did a few better nights but now it looks as though we're onto another sleep issue. Due to the op, we had to get rid of the dummy too and so we cannot resort to settling her with one.
I am currently sleeping in her room which I thought would help if its separation anxiety but its not helped yet, its only been one night. I'm trying the pick up, put down method if she's inconsolable otherwise shh/pat but I think it winds her up. She calms down sometimes when I hold her and cuddle but she wakes instantly when I put her down.
When we start the night sleep she can settle herself and doesn't need us but she wakes up crying or screaming a few hours later and won't settle again until we come to her. Last night I left her for a bit in case it was night terrors but she was awake as she responded to me when I got up. I wouldn't do cc as I'm sure she may have some separation anxiety.
I've read that brain development around now can cause this and so perhaps we have to just hang on in there but I'm not sure what to do as I feel clueless, its been 4 nights so far and I'm starting to feel ill and faint due to the lack of sleep.
Any advice would be really appreciated, thanks x
