Weaning and Poo...

Warning... this may be TMI !

Ds is 7 mo and has taken to solids very well. I was just a bit concerned about his poo - basically, it's the colour of what he ate the previous day... so it can range from green (for peas and broccoli), to orange (for carrots and sweet potato) and this morning's pinkish red (for beetroot).
Is that normal? Or does it mean that he isn't digesting any of the food he's eating and it's just passing through his system?

Just need someone to reassure me :)

I'm weaning 7 mth old ds at the moment, and his poos are an array of colours and consistencies!

We're doing BLW and the bits just come through undigested, poo is the same colour as before (yellow, breastfed). I guess you're doing purees and it's just coming out undigested too?

Totally fine from my understanding, their digestive system is just kicking in for these first few months.

Oh, yeah, weaning poo is horrible, why does no-one tell you?! My DD is now 10 months and her poo's been normal for probably nearly 2 months now, from when she started properly getting into eating.

Does normal mean smelling like adult poo, MatriarchalDreams? Not looking forward to that!

I remember DH's face when he visited me in hospital after I'd had DS1 who was in SCBU. He relayed the tale of having been to friends of ours for dinner and their five month old son having done a bright green poo from having eaten spinach the day before. This was almost 20 years ago when the recommended age for starting solid food was 12 weeks.
