Help with 14 month olds behaviour!

Hi, my 14 month old ds has started to have a meltdown most evenings around 7pm ish. He thrashes about, wants held then wriggles so much but when put down he stands up and throws himself backwards hurting himself then he does it repeatedly. If he is safe I leave him on the floor for a minute but when hurting himself I pick him up, then the wriggling starts and he is freakishly strong! He isn't very big for his age but quite advanced. I was thinking he is frustrated as his mind wants to do something but his skills don't match...possible? Is this practice for the terrible 2's? Am I missing something or is this normal behaviour?

Any advice would be appreciated!

What time does he go to bed? Sounds like he could be getting over tired? Does he settle to sleep well?

Sounds like normal pre bedtime meltdown.

I'd also say overtired.
Do you have a bedtime routine? Dinner, play, bath, pjs, book, soft light, musical toy (eg singing teddy) etc?

My DS was the same at this age, more or less (maybe 10-12mo). We had a routine that didn't include bath (wound him up, made him nuts, screams house down still!) and then lits of hugs and rocking. We co-sleep and often I'd climb into bed with him and stay there til he was really 'floppy' asleep then sneak off. He'd thrash around the bed for a while, but his eyes would be closed so we knew he was never far off.

He grew out of it pretty quickly, one or two months. Hang in there

I would say tired but he has bags of energy and is a very poor sleeper...always has been.

I've always been able to bf him to sleep when he is bad but at the moment he is inconsolable.

I was also thinking it could be teething. He is having another freak out just now. It's hard to keep hold of him!
