Travelling with an 8w old - what's needed? Other considerations?

Due to unforeseen circumstances I may need to bring a mum and baby from London to Edinburgh at short notice to stay for maybe a week. Possibly train or fly, not sure which is best. Mum is completely deaf with no speech at all, and I'm not sure how much she's travelled in the past. I don't want her to have to travel with too much baggage, and wondering if I'll need to go get her or if she'll manage ok on her own.

So, what might she need? Visiting Baby is 8 weeks old and formula fed.

I have a 16w old boy, so have a (currently unused) nursery with cot and spare bed, lots of clothes, muslins etc that can be shared between babies (both boys). I have a small microwave Tommy Tippie steriliser that comes with their breast pump (could maybe hold 2-3 bottles?) also have a smaller crib or a pram top with 'all night' suitable matress in if baby won't sleep in the large cot.

I need very little for my DS as he's breastfed and we co sleep. I'd obviously rather just fly her up on her own, halving the cost to myself and reducing travel for my DS. Her partner is currently out of the picture (hence the trip).

I don't think that there's much you will need at 8 weeks. Are you going to travel by car - is there a car seat you can borrow? Some bottles and formula if she isn't bringing it (though I'd have thought she'd travel with a couple of bottles).

If you have a sling and a buggy you can probably get out and about with both babies easily enough. No need for a high chair at this age, and you have a cot. Do you have cot bedding?

I don't think you need much at all really. I presume she will have bottles and will need to bring some with her for the journey. As for sterilising, just get some milton fluid - I find this easier than the microwave steriliser anyway.
With the amount of stuff you have, she could just travel with enough bottles of milk and a change or two of clothes for the journey and some nappies and wipes. whether she comes by train or plane, she should be able to bring her own buggy with her. Or you could sling yours and let hers use your pram. Car seat is an important consideration - I am assuming she doesn't drive and therefore may not have her own. You will need to think about how you are going to pick her up from the airport/station. Perhaps she has one of her own though.

Once she has tickets, you could book assistance for her whether via train or plane, to ensure there's someone to help her get from one place to another, which is confusing enough if you aren't used to travel, without being sleep-deprived and deaf. THey aren't supposed to carry bags for you but usually will help and especially if you have a small child will help you get sorted in a carriage.

You'd have to let her know you'd done so, as the communication may be difficult - is her written English good?

I would say best option is flying from London.

Arrange for a taxi company with baby car seat option to take them from their home to airport. Many do this in London.

Get her a good sling like the beco Gemini if she doesn't already have one. If you can by A box of formula she can probably get away with just a rucksack as luggage. As she will only need a few days clothes for herself and baby presumably as you can wash/ baby can borrow.

You can arrange for assistance at airport, just phone flight company and someone can meet her as she gets out of taxi. However if she is confident enough I would assume she can manage to get on flight alone if she has done before.

So plane with assistance, plus taxi with carseat provided. Just take baby in sling, with either rucksack or small hand luggage size suitcase ( will save her having to check bag in and wait at other end
