DD is 5.5, what do I say? What book might help.
She is tenacious and clever so needs to be factual!

mumm has eggs inside her. Daddy has sperm inside him. The eggs and the sperm together make a baby.

She may not ask any more than this.

EyePad I'm not sure what 'in a simple way' actually means. She knows about genes, but wants to know how the Daddy's genes get to them Mummy's genes.
