Baby number 2???

Jayne266 · 03/12/2012 21:14

Finances aside when did people think they were ready for another baby?
Was it when baby one was a particular age or was it a time in your life (work, age health etc)
I am not looking into having another baby any time soon but besides finances when did people feel they were ready?
Or was it a stork suppose lol everyone let me know when it was for you! X

We had had difficulty ttc number 1, so didnt want to leave too big a gap incase the same happened.

There is a 2.5 yr age gap between mine.

Just had dc2 shesv4 weeks, dc1 is 2.2yrs really hasn't been as horrendous as people told me it would be. We are slower in the mornings well in general really but that's just newborns isn't it. I'm loving it :-)

There are 20 months between my dc, we wanted a small age gap as wanted to get through the baby stage quickly. It would have been a small gap, but I had trouble with my tear from dc1 so had to be restitched when he was 10 months old. DD was conceived two weeks later Smile

We wanted a small-ish age gap (around 2 years). Currently looking like that will work out (pg with DC2 and DS will be 25mo around my due date)

Currently considering ttc no.2 - ds is 16 months. The idea being that they'll be close in age with 2 yrs btw them, and also to keep going whilst we're used to being tired. I am quite petrified of the sleeplessness though, so v pleased to read your comments debbie

We had several reasons, one was work and falling pg while on a contract and not between contracts (maternity pay) and another DD who I felt would benefit from a sibling before she got much older.

I have a 4 month old and all through the pregnancy I was saying to my husband this is the only one. Then a month after he was born I was in complete awe of him and started thinking some day I would like another. And was wondering when people felt ready to have another for different reasons. X

DS is about to turn 2 and I have suddenly started feeling really broody so we'll probably start TTC number 2 soon. A lot of my friends have shorter gaps between their children but I didn't feel ready until very recently - DS was hard work as a baby (and still is - he has boundless energy). I've settled back into work and am really enjoying DS but I guess biology is telling me it's time!

Not sure yet, but would love for DS to have a sibling close in age. DS is only 11 weeks old and I'm being badgered by DP to have DC2. Since I'm the one still recovering from the tear I think I'll be having the final say on when that happens. It's the first time in life that I'm envious of a couple of famous people, such as the ones who are pregnant again already (Simpson, Spelling, Geldof).

I fell for dd2 when dd1 was ten months. They have a beautiful bond. Challenging sometimes at first as I was parenting alone. But I would and will do it all over again maybe next year? Grin Dd is 2 and dd2 is 6m

I was always certain I only wanted one and tbh I found the first 3/6 months so hard I didnt doubt myself. However the thought of never being pregnant again makes me really sad.

Now dd is 11mo and dh has said he wants another, we will try for another. However I do want to wait till dd is in full time school so I can have the daytimes with dc2, a little bonding time / resting time with a newborn so they get a little bit of one on one like dd had.

I did get a mad hormonal surge at 6montgs where I would have got pregnant That Day but dh had his sensible hat on and a week later I knew we had done the right thing.

My dc2 was a very welcome surprise! I have 2.5 years between dc1 and 2 which seems perfect atm, they adore each other and theres been no jealousy at all.

At 14mo when DD slept through regularly. It seemed a lovely idea

I always wanted 2 or more children, but my DD was ( to be blunt) a nightmare , she suffered terrible colic and lactose intolerance, slept for an hour at a time through the night and was very irritable and hardly slept in the day, I also suffered PND which went I diagnosed for quite a few months, once she settled down and I felt better then we started trying again. There is 3 years between my two, once I had DS I knew that was it for me.

4 years between mine as we couldn't decide when to have another. For us it's a perfect age difference, DS is at school so dd and I have time for just us 2 then we all make sure DS has his own time with me and DH. Always wanted a decent age gap to be able to fully enjoy DS.

1.11 age gap between mine. However nice it is to have two and that they can play together etc, I am knackered. They are 3 and 1. I also feel I missed out on time with my oldest when I was pregnant with DS. And afterwards. I bfed so stuck with DS all tr time while others took DD. I do feel sad about that. And DS is hard work. Poor sleeper and wrecks the house doesn't listen etc etc.

Not trying to put you off but had I been younger then the age gap would have been bigger.

Most of my friends have about 3 years, it's what we have too. Suits us really well. Older one isn't a baby anymore, more than likely out of nappies and generally sleeping better. The main reason for us was to keep nursery costs down as DD1 was 15 hours funded when I returned to work. SAHMs I know like to have a bit of baby only time when there 3 year olds are at preschool.

I found the baby bit really hard first time round and DD1 was nearly two before I could seriously consider it. With DD2 if finances had allowed I would have gone for it a lot sooner as she was an easier baby.

I fell pregnant with DC2 3.5 months after having DC1 as I was so broody within a month of being a mother. I think this may have been hormones! So in 13 months we went from none to two! We had planned on waiting til DC1 was about 9/10 months before TTC but we knew what could happen- and it did. Subconscious telling us to go again immeadiately with no regard for finances, etc Blush However I was still shocked and then pertrified for the entire second pregnancy! I most definitely do not want another yet but I am sure I will want another- eventually and we will just know!

I wanted 4 with 2yr ish gaps until I got pregnant with my first ( both DH and I from big families) but the pregnancy was hideous. Had hyperemesis, was sick all the way through, admitted to hospital twice, had a placental bleed, felt depressed because I hated it so much. Was so relieved when it was over! Will be TTC the second (and possibly last) when DD is 18 months ish. Would like to leave it longer but will need to apply for a new more senior job 9-12 m after that and don't want to risk being pregnant in new job if I have another awful one. Thought about not having another but DD is a lovely baby and would be a shame for her to have no sibs.
