Help! My 6yo is a Whinger of Olympic Standards.....

I have posted here a few months ago re whinging (?) and was told, quite rightly at the time, that nippers whinge because it works.

As a result, Imchose to ignore the said moaning and to certainly not give into it, however, now that DS can see that it doesn't actually enable him to get his own way, he STILL whinges for England!

I go one step further, which seems to work.

If you winge, i won't listen to you. Normal talking in a normal voice please.
Feel free to winge but not in here, find another room to do it in.
And follow through...

Strangely, 6 yo DS is worse than 4yo DD!!

I've had some success in treating it almost like an acting lesson. Repeat what they should have said in a better (non-wingy) tone of voice, and get them to copy you. Sometimes they just don't realise how wingy they sound. Mimicing them can work too once they start to wake up to how irritating it is!
