Omg I jus went bang down a hole :( baby is fine but I was collecting DS from school I bet all the mothers think u terrible mother :( I didn't put her in the pram as I was late . I'm trying not to cry right now

Aww... you aren't the worst mum ever - lots of people have been there! Don't be too hard on yourself - baby is fine and you are a bit shaken, nothing worse. Have a and a cuddle with baby if you can :)

Did you drop the baby and are you sure they are fine? If so, don't beat yourself up about it, you are probably tired and stressed. So many of us have a similar story about the early days and it all turned out OK.

You're not a bad mum, you just fell over. My DSis fell over while holding DN when he was 6 weeks old - he's now 17 and at college. Big hugs xxx you are probably a lot more upset than baby.

Oh bless you, of course you aren't a terrible mum! Accidents happen.

Good to hear your baby is okay, but what about you, I hope you aren't hurt. Nothing wrong with having a cry, I often feel better for letting it out. Then have some tea and cake and give your baby an extra big cuddle to cheer yourself up.

Happens to everyone. My DH tripped with dd2 in a sling,most unfortunately she landed on a piece of glass (he was outside) and had a really deep cut through one brow. She still has a noticable scar but accidents happen. DD1 was very nearly mown down by a car speeding the wrong way up a one way street, she was in her push-chair, so you can't win either way! Have a sweet drink and a sit down.

No didn't drop baby and he didn't touch the floor or anything but he did scream think it was the shock :(( he is laughing and kicking in his chair now . I feel so embarrassed:/ I'm fine not that I care about me lol

My friend fell down the stairs carrying her dd, and broke her dd's leg!

I managed to let 10 week old DD roll off our bed. She was fine. When I confessed to MIL her reply was "It's won't be the last time". The point is, we all do it or something like that at some point. It's just part of life.

DH had ds in the sling when he was 5 weeks old. He leaned over to fix the lawnmower and ds fell out. Onto the lawnmower.

I slipped on a steep path with DD1 in a useless 2nd hand back carrier.
It and DD flew over my head.

She was absolutely non the worse, I was a quivering wreck and the carrier went in the bin.

I tripped over a bouncy chair and banged my ten day old daughter's head into the door frame. She cried for two or three minutes. I cried for an hour (or three off and on). I still glare at the bouncer and make bloody sure I know what's on the floor in front of me. Didn't stop me falling over a baby gym my DH had put on the floor in the nursery at 3am. Luckily that time it was just me who went flying .

6 wk old DS fell off the bed and landed on my lap top. He didn't wake up!

I clunked my ds head on a cupboard door when he was in the sling. And he fell out of our bed when 6months old (in our bed to be breastfed). When I woke up and realised he was on the floor he was tugging on the wires to the bedside lamp. (blush)

DD fell off the bed at 16 weeks. The first thing the doctor told us when he saw her (yes, we rushed her to a&e, pfb) was that we were not the first parents for this to happen to and we wouldn't be the last. DD is almost 2 and bouncing on my lap so she is none the worse.

As to what the other mums were thinking, I bet it was either sympathy or relief that it wasn't them. And you obviously care about what happens to your baby so you are not the worst mother ever.

DH dropped DD1 on her head when she was about 13 months. She passed out cold and it was honestly the scariest and longest 15 seconds of our lives. She's fine now.

My mother also fell down the stairs with me in her arms. I'm also fine < twitches >

Aw how awful! I fell once with a tiny DD in a baby bjorn and there was not a soul nearby to see! That felt worse somehow! I had to put both hands round her head and body and fall on my knees!

One of my friends fell down the stairs and dropped her baby. She phoned 999 and screamed "I've killed my baby" and the operator said "is that the baby I can hear screaming?" "yes I'm holding her". Operator calmed friend down. Quick trip to a&e later- baby fine.

The night we brought ds home from hospital my husband picked up the Moses basket with him sleeping in it to move ds a bit and he slipped and ds rolled across the bedroom floor!! We were both absolutely horrified and rushed over to pick ds up... who had stayed asleep the whole time!
