How old? Japanese kids don't seem to suffer too much :o

Yes. Definitely. Especially if it's made with brown rice. My kids love California, dynamite and veggie rolls.

My DS is 6 but just wondered when it was ok to let them try it. Smile

Dh brought some back from town as a treat for my lot tonight, the 4yo has been eating it since he was a toddler and no probs!

I shared a small box of sushi on the beach with DD when she was 5 and she projectile vomited twice all over the bus on the way home.
Later on I projected all over the bathroom from both ends simultaneously so badly I had to use a mop and bucket to clean it up.
Just thought I would share with you.Grin
I couldn't even look at a california roll for at least the next seven years.

Sushi doesn't have to have raw fish in it, if that's what you're worried about.

I think from 6 months they can have pretty much anything except whole nuts.

Yes. It's also usually fine when pregnant too. Don't take him to Yo sushi though. It could get expensive (voice of bitter experience!)

Ours (half Japanese, nearly two) has eaten raw and dried fish (including whole teeny tiny ones!), octopus and squid. He blooming loves it. We've avoided raw shell-fish so far.

Tentacles, yeuch. But very healthy!

Restaurant sushi - but not raw shellfish - is fine when pregnant because it is frozen prior to preparation. It kills any nasties. I've just extrapolated those principles to decide what to let DS try.

Thanks everybody, we are heading to a Japanese restaurant tomorrow and wanted to check it would be ok because I know he will love sushi if he tries it.

My ds loves sushi, and has been troughing it down ever since he was weaned. But Yo Sushi does turn out expensive

My two are pretty conservative with food, but they both love sushi. They keep away from the wasabi and ginger strips though! A 6yo will be fine with it, but it might take a few visits to get used to it.

Of course it is ok.
