I gave ds (2.10) a small bowl of gaudy pick n mix last night, with those jelly rings, and pink pigs, and red lips etc.

He won't eat them. He has arranged them prettily in a bowl and is making the pigs talk to each other.

Everyone who has spoken to him on the subject has been told, proudly "Look, sweeties!", but he won't put them in his mouth.

He is enjoying playing with them though, they have been sorted by colour, size, type, they've been counted, poured, hidden in pots, and regrouped for a good talking to.

He does have a sweet tooth though, he goes nuts for chocolate. That's why I don't understand why he won't eat these sweets.

Had a similar Smug Moment on halloween when DS2 (4) told the waitress in the restaurant that he didn't like sweets when she offered him some. And then he insisted on having plain water to drink, refusing the offer squash.

Of course, he then had nuggets and chips followed by choc icecream...

Colditz - my DS is the same. Loves nice chocolate (won't touch nasty cheap stuff!!) but not into "sweeties" really or lollipops. Our doc gives them something after a visit and she only had lollies left last time and he said "no thanks I don't like them"!

He does have one particular type of chewy sweet that he likes and they only come in packs of six sweets and a pack can last him a couple of days.

Very odd!
