one of those mornings....

DH and DS (14 months) just gone out for a walk after a morning from hell.

Do others have these?

Early start 5.45 and DS been a mood pretty much ever since, crying and whinging over EVERYTHING. Refused food. Clearly exhausted and I think suffering from a slight sore throat. Initially DH and I were fine with one another, but after 3 hours of it, it did start to grind us down and then we ended up having an argument. This morning has just felt so relentless, to the point DH said he really didn't want any more children.

I did find myself daydreaming about morning life BC, the leisurely lie-in, relaxed brekkie etc. A world away from this morning.

I guess I am just looking for comrades. Anyone else had a morning like this? Any advise?

Thanks

aw , well at 14 months your ds will probably have a long nap after lunch
perfect opportunity for you and dh to snuggle on the sofa with a dvd or to go for a nap yourselves
my 7 year old was up at 6.30am and sadly he won't be going back to bed until 8pm tonight, lol, so I'm slightly envious of you!!

Weeeeeell be assured that it doesnt last forever, mantra "this too will pass"

Will your ds have a wee sleep this morning? THEN you & dh make bacon butties and sit with a brew snuggled on the sofa.
When ds wakes up, its your turn to take him out, can you go to your mums, or to a friends for a couple of hours to give your dh a break.

Have tea together, then when your boy is in bed...have a bath then you two go to bed. sleeeeeeeep.

Thats my advice, thatsw hat we did to survive, we did the early years in shifts..

Teething, overtired, unrealistic expectations....

A lot of parents take turns with lie ins on weekends, so one of you takes the kid to far corner of the house & focuses completely on the toddler's needs, or getting jobs done out of the house with tot in tow. The other adult gets a slow start to the day. Swapover next morning.

Thanks for advise.

Yep, my turn this morning. Oh I wish so desperately that I could pop over to my mum's, but she passed away five years ago. I would love to be taking my baby over to her place and having a cup of tea with her whilst my DS played around us.

Sorry for going off on a tangent.

Yes, naptime around midday and should be about 90 mins. Probably TMI but I had intended to whisk my DH off to the bedroom as it has been almost a fortnight. However, I think I shall instead postpone that and just snuggle on the sofa whilst watching TV!

It's just a phase, it's justa phase, it's just a phase. But what's the next phase?! Shock

your dh sounds great though taking him out
you should get 40 winks now and then you'll be up for something more energetic later on Wink

sorry about your mum though, that must be so hard

Doesn't get easier for a while - DD is 2 years and has had a spectacularly bad morning including pulling a chair over on top of her, and a mega tantrum over i'm not sure what (she was too angry to do anything but scream) as we were trying to go out to go to the shops. Is having her 'nap' now and has been chatting to herself since i put her down, so will probably not sleep and be even more strung out this afternoon! Looking forward to work tomorrow so I can have a break!

I know where you're coming from.

Today was a lovely day with DD (20 mo) but last Sunday she woke at 05.15 and was Little Miss Wind-up from then on - she and me both had our Grumpy Pants on until she had her lunchtime nap and I had had a break from her.

Everyone has their bad days and LOs are no exception. I guess we just try and get through them as best we can and then appreciate the good days even more.
