No idea where I should be posting this but am having a party for my 9 year old DS's birthday and am on a really tight budget.

Need around 40 filled party bags or single gift, like a book or something.

Don't want to spend much more than £1 per child, yes am really hard up!

Please could you give me any ideas?

Thank you

Don't have ds but how about seeing if a sports shop has any offers on footballs though not sure how much that would cost.

Realistically, the cheapest way to fill a party bag is probably to buy bumper packs of sweets!

Pick something out at the £1 shop - a catapult aeroplane or toy car or similar - then wrap up in cheap paper (Primark is best) and give to each child.

BTW 40 people at a party? You are mad brave!

really - 40 at £1 each? And you are hard up? WOW
You are already doing a party for them, why do they need something to take away as well?
If you really need something, then a bumper bag of sweets with a few in each bag, much less than £1 each.

At 9 I think you are quite alright to say 'too old for party bag'.

Cake and a scream egg or other Halloween chocolate. 50. - 60 pence max.
Even when not feeling broke I would not do £1 party bags for 40

I think this is quite good value.

8 for £9.97 x 5 = £49.85 + p&p and no hassle
Or rocket balloon each (they are 3 ft long) + piece of cake and or curly wurly + something printed from Internet such as this or more ideas here

Or (as it is an appropriate time of year) how about these for £1.00 each?

Oops - must go to bed - meant halloween one specifically

Thanks substantiallycompromised some great ideas there. Will maybe get those party bags and a cake each to take away.

It's a swimming party BTW and am hiring out the pool so there won't be any food so particularly wanted them to take something away.
