Silly question alert!!

Hello all,

A very silly question for you...

My baby is very nearly 1 (crazy!!) and I'd love to get her some proper pyjamas for Christmas. Would she be ok to sleep in them under a grobag or would she still be better of in a sleepsuit?

When do they stop using grobags and have a duvet? Is it best to wait til they're out of a cot and in a bed for that?

Thanks!

We never used grobags and went with a very thin cot duvet tucked in at the sides instead. Think we stuck with sleepsuits for as long as possible because pyjamas tended to part company, expose areas of skin and if DS got cold he'd wake up (v v bad...)

DD (15 months) has been wearing pyjamas for the last few months and has been fine in her grobag with them.

Not sure about the switch to duvets but DD is such a wriggler I'm keeping her in sleeping bags for as long as possible.

I think safety guidelines are duvet from 12 months. We kept DS in sleepsuits for as long as poss as the one time he wore pyjamas I walked into his room to find he had removed his nappy!

Thanks for the replies.

I think I have it in my head that I'll switch to a duvet when she's in a bed not the cot. Not sure why but I think I'll stick with it!

So maybe I'll try pyjamas and her grobag, I'd like to give her new pyjamas every Christmas Eve so she wakes up in new pyjamas. A friends parents gave her a new bedding set every Christmas eve, which I think is lovely but this is my cheaper alternative!

I might try her out in PJ's before Christmas though in case It means she has a terrible nights sleep, I'd rather know that now than on Christmas eve!!

I guess in a grobag any exposed skin from the PJ's (feet and poss tummy etc) won't actually be exposed as she'll be in the grobag?!

Does that make sense?!

Thanks

we never used grobags, just blankets. I think mine had a duvet at about a year though because we never have the heating on at night and it can get a bit cold

used sleepsuits until they were potty trained I think, around 2.5ish

DD (2.5) is still in sleepsuits in cold weather because we have the fleecy ones and they're much warmer than pyjamas. She gave up grobags over the summer when it was too hot to sleep in them, and hasn't wanted to go back - she's got a proper duvet now.

We did sleepsuits until around 1ish. DD1 in grobag until 2yrs. DD2 in grobag until 2.5yrs (we stopped after the day we found her downstairs still in her bag - luckily our stairs are quite shallow and easy to negotiate but did scare us a bit!).

I stopped using gro bags when he could stand up as I didnt want him to get all tangled and fall, i've put pyjamas on him since he was about 6 months under the grobag, should be warm enough as feet are still covered.
