advice on arranging this playdate

Title is a bit silly I know.
However ds is 10 in year 6 and still relies on me to sort out children after school for tea etc.
He wants one particular lad in his class to come after school they have already been discussing this in school between then from what ds has told me.
The lad comes out of school walks home by himself I don,t really know him and don,t know who his parnets are where they live etc.
How would I go about arranging this for ds.
I thought about giving a note to ds with my phone number for the boy to give to his mom or giving the note to the lad himself to give his mom.
Whata the best way don,t want to look silly.

I think a quick note from you to his mum would be fine. Give it to DS to hand over. You just need to say "Hi. We'd love for x to come over after school on such-and-such day. Are you fine with that? Drop me a line or give me a call to let me know"
