Bathing with DS - at what age is it inappropriate?

My DS (nearly 4) loves me to have a bath with him. I work full time and get very little quality time with him in evenings and I find that when I do jump in the bath with him we have a good giggle and a proper conversation without distractions. I'm just not sure when it becomes inappropriate or if it is already. Any thoughts?

It occasionally still happens with my DS who is 9!

Usually if I'm in with my DD (6) and he wants to come in too. At which point it usually gets a bit crowded so I get out pretty soon :o

I can imagine that pretty soon he won't even want me in the bathroom with him so I'm just taking his lead.

he will let you know when he doesnt want to do it, my ds2 who is 9 still comes in with me sometimes :)

but my eldest ds is just 12 and wouldnt! i am not sure when it stopped, but at around 10/11 he didnt want to bath with his siblings anymore and preferred to shower on his own.

He's often in cleaning his teeth when me or DH are in the shower etc. Actually I've found that an 'open bathroom policy' is quite useful as it seems to be quite a relaxed easy time when they start to ask questions about bodies, sex, babies. eg Mummy why do ladies have boobs? Why do have hair on your bottom? When will I get it?

It becomes inappropriate when he starts to feel uncomfortable about being naked in front of you, and/or about seeing you naked. And that just depends on what he's like and how the dynamic works - but about 8to 10 is typical IME.

4 is certainly fine!

Thanks for all your replies! I think it is quite good to be open too as he understands differences in gender now and doesn't even ask anymore. He has however said to me that my bum is too big to fit in the bath with him!
