When did your baby learn to crawl?

Mine is 9 months and has seemed to be on brink for last month but always decides she'd rather sit where she is without whatever she wanted than make the effort to crawl to what she wants. I know she is still within guidelines but she has three friends slightly younger than her all crawling all over the place and I am starting to get paranoid?

My son was about a week off his 1st birthday.

DD was about 10 months. Chasing a ball eventually did it.

Once they take off you will miss the days when they would just sit still Grin

Without sounding like a bad parenting book...they all do it when they are ready. My eldest never crawled, started walking at 11 months. My twins were 8 months and 12 months before they started and youngest was 8 months. My mum assures me that I never crawled and didn't walk till I was 18 months Grin Don't stress, it's when they start to move that you are in trouble...

Some children don't crawl Smile They bottom shuffle, stand and cruise, stand up and walk and all are normal. Start to worry if there is no movement by12 months. Can your dd put weight on her feet? If not then I would suggest speaking to the HV or GP to get her hips checked. However, she is probably fine if she can sit fully unsupported. HTH Smile

My Grandmother to her mother just after my dad was born
"When will he learn to crawl?"
Answer from my great grandmother
"Far too soon......"

DS was about 8.5 months.

DD didn't crawl properly until about 2.5 I think and had been walking since 15 months (which was when DS also learned to walk). She did a weird sort of bottom shuffle with one leg stuck out behind her.

& for future ref Wink my late crawler didn't walk until 18-19 months, others were around 13-14 months (again, can't remember exactly Blush)

Ds crawled at 5.5 months - nightmare. Dd was a more respectable 7.5 months. Believe me, the longer they take to do it, the easier your life will be!

my dd learnt at 7 months. while I was overjoyed when she did, I soon realised that her being mobile created a lot of work! If they are late crawlers then enjoy..

11 months, walked at 13, walked exclusively at 15 months. Also used to be completely immune to the 'toy placed out of reach to encourage crawling' ploy!

Both dd1 and ds1 started crawling at 6 months. Nightmare! All the other mothers had their babies sitting in the garden with a pile of toys on a rug, mine were in the earth covered in mud.....

My DD has been crawling backwards for about a month and forward for about ten days. she'll be 7 months at the wkend.

My back is already agony from retrieving her from places she shouldn't be. She's thrilled with herself though!

Mine never crawled either. She walked at about 13 months. She is now 17 months. She can run, climb, jump and do all sorts of things, but crawling is still her least favourite thing. Don't worry; some children never crawl and that's absolutely normal.

since you say yours in on the brink, he probably hill crawl. DS faffed for aaages before crawling at 10.5 months (I believe DH showed him how Grin, as the frustration was unbearable)

DS2 definitely in the far too soon camp. Elsaj that sounds like a very familiar story
