What can I do about 13 month old DSs hair? He has an awful mullet!

He was born with a headful of hair and it has not stopped growing. He has this terrible mullet thing going on now and as such always looks scruffy (I do admit to tying it up into a pony tail thing on the top of his head and trying to gel it out of his eyes as I have been getting desperate). I am pretty sure he would feel wonderful relief from a short back and sides but will not cooperate.

Have taken him to hairdressers twice - he would not let them touch it even while sitting on DH's lap.

Have tried cutting it at home - while in the highchair, bath and asleep in his cot but he always moves at inopportune moments and has lots of different length layers now and a very wonky fringe and I cannot even get started on the back!

Any ideas?

He is not my PFB by the way and although the others were very hairy too, they did not need a hair cut until at least the age of 2.

Are there kids' hair shops around where they can sit in cars and watch videos? My son and DIL did that for first haircut and DG was mesmerized. His younger twin sibs did not get to go to expensive place.

persevere with the cutting whilst asleep - I cut DS2 hair whilst he sleeps and he is 3yo. just work out when he is most likely to be in a very deep sleep (10mins into afternoon nap works for us) then get snipping. I generally have to do DS's hair in a couple of stages because he'll be sleeping on the wrong bit at some point

good luck

Unfortunately not HansieMom just regular hairdressers. Nearest would probably be London which is 90 mins away and am not quite that desperate!

OK will persist with the cutting while asleep, he will look an absolute mess though! His hair is very fine but there is a lot of it.

He is starting to look like this.....

Can you take him just after a nap so he's a bit groggy? Works with DS!
