Is there a surge of separation anxiety around 22 months?

My ds2 has been my shadow lately, he cries if I try to leave the room, tries to get in my clothes with me, says the M word 7 million times a day and is generally clamped to me at all times. I can't even put him to bed because he weeps when I leave the room, but goes down ok for Dp.

Will it pass, I can't remember from my other 2 Blush, or is he just a generally more clingy child?

Sounds exactly like my 22 month old! Hoping its a phase that she'll grow out of (soon!). No ideas I'm afraid - will watch thread in hope someone comes along with advice.

Yep! I give DS loads of cuddles etc and he seems much better. Although still has me in a headlock to get me to lie in bed with him at bedtime Hmm Grin

Yes, separation anxiety peaks at this age, it does pass. DD1 did this mostly at night, would wake up and not go back down, I was very PG at the time and ended up sleeping on a mattress in her room and all I had to do was say that I was there. It took about 6 weeks and then it passed. The best thing to do is definitely cuddles and reassurance, no matter how frustrating it can get!

I thought it was because we had started contact arrangements with her dad but thats exactly what my DD was like. At 24months shes alot better.
