Radio on with a 10 month old

Hi,

I just wondered about this really. When we're at home I have the radio on a lot in the day. I'm not keen on total silence so it's just a bit of background noise. My baby watches tv a couple if times a week for 15 mins or so. Not overly strict on this just don't feel the need and I don't like her justt sitting watching tv. However with the radio she carries on playing, and occasionally dances!!

How bad is it really?

Thanks

It's not bad at all! I always had the TV news on when the DC's were small.

I don't think it's bad at all - you are interacting with her and talking to her and that's fine. Whatever helps your sanity can only be a good thing - I too have a 10 month old and I think survival is key Grin

Phew!! I read on here such a lot how the tv is terrible for them as it's background noise. I know that the there's nothing to mesmorise her with the radio but I wondered about the background noise!

If we're sitting and reading books for a bit I do tend to turn it off, and it's not on 100% of the time..... definitely the majority though!

Thanks

I think they say TV is bad because it's no substitute for talking to or playing with your LO. They learn far better through interaction as i'm sure you know. Having the radio on is fine. I always have the radio on, and talk and sing (like a loon) to my DS while i'm pottering around in the kitchen.
