I have a 12 week baby boy who generally is good as gold. at 8 weeks (ish) started to sleep kind of through the nights from 10pm till 6am. we have estabilished a good bedtime routine bath at 6pm followed by bottle and then in bed for 7pm and he is usually fallen asleep on his own by 7.15 ish, he would then sleep through till 5am for a feed then settle down till 8/9am. but over the past week he has been waking up between 1am and 2am again have i created a problem by feeding him at that time or is something else i am missing or doing incorrectly. he is currently on 7oz of extra hungry baby milk which 9 times out of 10 he only drinks about 6 oz of. do you have any advice on what i can try i asked my mum and got the unadvisable answer of put him on solids I know he is too young for this and have explained it to her that solids isnt to be started till minimum of 17 weeks.

any one got any ideas

Wow that is amazing that he slept through the night at 8 weeks. Lucky you! I imagine it is a growth spurt and that you will just have to go with it for a while. You could try doing a dream feed before you go to bed to see if you can push him later. Not sure from your post if you are doing this already.
Also he seems quite young for hungry baby milk. Have you just started this? I know it digests differently to normal formula so might be the issue.
Good luck.

Think they have growth spurts at around 3 & 4 months...

we never breastfed him due to him being nil by mouth for the first 4 days and we could never establish him on the breast he was given breast milk by bottle for a while but he was a large baby so never had enough milk to satisfy his hunger. he has been on extra hungry milk since 6 weeks he went from 4 hourly feeds to needing food every 2 hours we persevered for nearly 2 weeks spoke to hv who suggested we try the extra hungry and it worked. (by sleeping through i mean he would feed at midnight then 6am), i have heared of the dream feed but dont know what it is .

I wouldn't expect sleeping through until 9-10 months. It often happens that they'll sleep for five or six hours in the early weeks but then come the big growth spurt (that they start building up to at 13 weeks) and that's it for sleeping through!

This sounds exactly like my little boy. My HV suggested a dream feed between 10 and 11pm (just before we go to bed) to stop the 1/2am wake up and he now sleeps through from 7.30pm til 7.30am and has done since 10 weeks old when we introduced the dream feed (he is now 21 weeks). I was really sceptical about it to start with but we just pick him up feed him and put him back down again. He does not wake up and does not need winding. It should just give a little top up to see them through.

The exact same thing happened with my little girl.! She's now 4 months and usually wakes up around 1ish and then maybe about half 3/4.. Both times her dummy usually settles her straight back to sleep.

I was possibly going to take her dummy away as I thought this could be waking her up when she realises it's not there but tried the dream feed.. It does help however she still stirs at points through the night Smile I'm hoping she will eventually settle and sleep through as I'm back to work in October.!!!
