5.10 dd - what time do your similar age dc go to sleep and wake up?

Dd wakes up at six to six thirty whatever time she goes to sleep. Always asleep by eight. I think she needs earlier sleep time but that would mean me doing bedtime!! Dh seems to have too much fun and string it out so it's always eight by the time she's asleep. At least since holidays anyway. And today was meltdown city in the day and dd nearly asleep in car in the afternoon. What sleep patterns do your five year olds have?

DS is just turned 5 and usally asleep by 8pm, wakes up around 7am. Before he started school he was much more of an early riser.

We do the long bedtime routine thing (DH's job here too) with DS and his younger sister most nights, but some nights I reserve the right to just get them into pjs, brush teeth and quick story - takes about 10 mins. DS calls it an STB (straight to bed)...

In the holidays, DD (5.9) still has 11 hours plus sleep, it's just shifted round the clock slightly. School term, she is in bed by 8 latest, up somewhere just before 7.30. In the holidays, it's an hour later all round.... she wakes later though, naturally, if she didn't she would still be in bed earlier to allow her 11 hours sleep.

She struggles on less than that.

Thanks! So far, as I guessed, like dd they need about eleven hours sleep. Eight's too late for dd-need to get it back. As I was reading posts I realise how far we've slipped in a couple of week's holiday. Back to seven lights out I think.

My DS is exactly the same as your DD. He is in bed and asleep by 8pm and up between 6 and 6.30am. His bedroom has curtains and black out blinds and is pretty dark even in full sunlight. He is 6 next week and quite often at weekends will still have an afternoon nap as he is so full on the rest of the time.

My DS is five and a half and is the same as yours in that he wakes at 6.30am regardless of what time he goes to bed. He goes to bed between 6.30 and 7pm depending on how tired he is and always goes straight to sleep. If he doesn't have at least 11 and a half hours he's really grouchy the next day.
