9month old sleep.....

My dd who is 9months use to roughly go to bed around 8/8:30pm. Now she goes
To bed at 9:30/45 but last night she didn't go until 10:45.

She wakes once for a feed in the night (bf) She eats well, active and has a sociable life (babygroups, visiting friends and family etc)

I was just wondering how to try and get her back to the 8:30 time. She gets tired but still plays until she'll
Crashed at around 9:30.

She is in with us as I don't feel ready to put her in her own room just yet as I am still bf her once a night.
And she fidgets ( especially in this heat) so sometimes soothe her.

She Rarely cries, other than last night, when she was just a bit hot I think. And teething.

When are her naps? How long for?

I was going to ask the same as NTFT.

She usually wakes for the day at 7am, naps around 930 for 1.5hrs,
Then we go to baby group, she then normally has another nap
After lunch around 2, then between 4-5 she'll have another hour . Then dinner at 630, bath then she's up
Until about 915/30.

Bearing in mind these naps do alter give or take an hour, and sometimes her
Lunchtime nap can be as long as 2 hours.

I think I need to skip the nap before dinner? Try that?

What time does she get up in the morning? Do you give her milk at bedtime?

I would think even 8.30pm is quite late for a 9 month old? I have a 10 month old DS and daytime naps are the same as your first 2 (morning nap any time between 9.30 - 10.00 for 1-1 1/2 hrs, then an afternoon nap for around 1 hr anytime from 2 - 4) but then he wouldn't have the 3rd, he has tea around 5 and we take him up for a bath around 6.30pm and he's down at 7pm after milk until 6-6.30am.
Could you put her down for her afternoon sleep a little later so she'd last a little longer until more of a bedtime time and cut out the 3rd nap?

Could you do dinner earlier so she could go to bed earlier too as she wouldn't have a full food tummy - maybe 5-5.30? Maybe the energy / excitement of this at 6.30 is keeping her up later?

A milk feed after bath then at bedtime might help her settle for sleep?

Well she had a nap today at 1 until about 2:40, and she's tired already. I'm just letting her play.
Will try giving her dinner at 5:30 instead of 6:30. And bath after. Yes she has a feed of milk before bed, but then she's full of beans
Her Daddy doesn't get in from work until 5:30, so she normally has play time with him. But I'll give her dinner then tonight.

Its as if she just doesn't want to miss out and will play until she's over-tired until 9-930

It is difficult. My DH doesn't get in until then / later and he hardly gets chance to see DS in the week which is a bit rubbish in some ways.
I know this is probably obvious, but have actually tried putting her to bed earlier or are you going by that she doesn't seem tired so isn't ready for bed when she's in the living room etc environment? My DS has stopped doing a lot of the obvious tired signs recently (eye rubbing etc) and I think he would try and keep going if we didn't take him to bed and in fact seems to get livelier when he's tired when he's downstairs with us / if there's anything vaguely stimulating happening, esp when DH wants to throw him around etc as he's not seen him all day! However, when we take him out of the rooms where stuff his happening and into his room with quiet, low lighting, music, milk etc (and esp when we sing twinkle twinkle) its like magic and the eye rubbing starts so he obviously is tired. Maybe we're just lucky (sorry if so!).

Good luck x

My 8.5mo goes to bed at 6.30.

Dozeyland Fri 05-Aug-11 19:48:44

Last night she had dinner at 530, bed at 840. No earlier slept until 530. Then until 730.

Today. Dinner at 530, had 20nap before this. Very over-tired but she just will not give in.

I don't think the muggy weather helps either

My 9.5 month old has 1.5 hour in the morning, normally 9-10.30 kind of time! Then at about 1.45 she'll have another half hour (although since she's started crawling it can be 45mins) then she gets in the bath about 6.45, asleep 7.30.

We have found that if she naps for longer than this in the day or too close to bedtime she's just not tired and we'll be trying to put an awake baby to sleep.

To me it sounds like your baby is having quite a lot of sleep in the daytime and maybe you need to try cutting the dinner time one out-or maybe shorten the naps, wake her after half hour?

Let us know how you get on!

I was havin the same problem with my 9month not long ago but i was told to cut out his tea time nap which was around 4-5 o clock and jus keep him as active a s possible until bed time. so now he has a hour nap in the morning around 10, dinner at 12-1 then another hour nap after, has tea at 5 bit of a paly, then bath and bed by 7. sometimes he is still a little lively but i just read to him then leave him until he falls off himself. he now sleeps from 7-7.30, 8 the next morning. so i think u should jus try cuttin out that 1 nap a day. also i found wen he was sleepin in the same room as us because if us tossin and turnin in the night kept wakin him up, as soon as we put him in his own room he slept all night. well good luck and let us now

Last night she went to bed at 8:30 after an hour of fighting it. Not crying, just very fidgety.
Then only slept until 130. Then until 7am.
The thing is which I must add, is until now we have only had one living room to live in at my parents. (Bed, cot, all our stuff and hers, etc)
So she's been use to going to bed when we do.
I suppose its going to be stepping stones n ow we have our own home. She is still in with us for now as we're still sorting stuff out.

I am going to keep giving her dinner at 530ish.

Its just the late afternoon nap I need to work out.

She's been up since 7, fell asleep at 11 and is still napping. She will normally have a good hour or so. Then another in the pm.
