Do video monitors disturb babies/children?

We've just got a Lindam clarity video monitor today and noticed that when my son's room is dark, the ring of red LED's around the camera which send out the light for night vision blink off then back on every 6 seconds.

We're concerned that this might disturb him if he wakes - is this normal for night vision video monitors? Do they disturb children?

I saw there was a baby monitor section but it has 1 page of topics in the last 18 months so I don't suppose many people would see it there!

Cheers,

Joe

Just to add the image jerks on the parent unit every 6 seconds as well, so I think this must be a duff one.

Joe, I'm afraid I haven't had experience of one of those video monitors but I didn't want your post going unanswered.

That does sound like a fairly irritating feature, but probably not one that will disturb your DS. Our monitor has a bright blue light and that doesn't disturb DD, although granted it doesn't flash.

I have a rotating muticoloured light (sends the colours across the walls, ceiling etc) in her room which often gets left on if she's gone to bed a bit unsettled and I too worried about whether this would disturb her if she woke, but it hasn't.

Can you google your make of monitor along with your question and see whether anyone has had issues with it disturbing their DC? I guess you'll only know by seeing how it goes over a few nights. I am sure it will be fine but hold on to the receipt just in case, and good luck.

Thanks StephanieBeachbum, I reckon with the flash and jerking picture it can't be right.

I have googled and nothing came back, and it took about 30 seconds after setup for me to notice this "feature."

I'll report back tomorrow after I've changed it at the shop.

Hope the new one isn't flashing Joe, it does sound odd!
