Usual size skip costs around the £100 mark. You can get smaller ones too.

an 6 yard skip normally costs around £160.00.

It costs more if you want to get rid of anything other than just soil and brick rubble too. (Tipping costs are more for skip operators so they pass the cost on to the customer) £100 - £130 is the going rate- check how long you can keep it for, and if it is on a public highway - you can't cause an obstruction.

right, I have to clear my loft and shed, so I am looking at around 160-200 then.

what do you want to get rid of? Some councils will collect bulky items for a fee. We have had large items removed for £31.50 and they would have taken a lorry load - but not soil/ garden rubbish. Skip hire depends on size and where you live but £100 plus.

Is it for clearing rubbish from a house? Because we used a man with a van type person, who specialises in rubbish removal for clearing out our garage when we moved. (Warned him there was a LOAD of Cr*p, but he was still quite surprised when he saw it!!) Cost £80 & well worth it as he does all the grunt work and then drives it all away. That was up north tho' - don't know what prices are like down here. May also help having an extra bod with AM about...?

we plan to clear the rubbish out when SIL, BIL and friends are down for the weekend in sept, SIL is going to help clear the garden. We thought that hiring a skip would be a good idea as we can get rid of everything at once, SIL and BIl will help keep us safe

I think they are different prices depending on where you live - in E.midlands we pay £60 - 80 for a midi one (6 yarder I think - though could be 4 I can't remember).

If you want to have a big clear out there's nothing like filling a skip!
