I washed my DD1s as it got to the stage of bin or risk the wash - wiping down was no longer an option.
They washed up ok, looked good but stopped flashing. Every now and again they flash for a little while and then die out.
Depends how much the flashing means to you both

always put my dd's trainers in the w2ashing machine. they always flash afterwards. the flashing bit is sealed as far as i know.

Ds1 once threw up on his flashing lights trainers and I had to put them into the washing machine. The lights still worked afterwards, and I have subsequently washed dd's trainers in the machine too and her lights still flash, but I wouldn't rely on them working afterwards!

I risked it - a quick cycle on 40 degrees. Still flashing.
No longer smell of wee and cow poo (don't ask!)

you aren't supposed to.
but i think that it's more to do with the fact that many parts of the shoe are glued together, and washing at a high temperatures could cause them to come apart more easily.

I have done on numerous occasions and no problems so far.

I washed dd flashig lights barbie trainers in the hope it would break them as I loathe them and cringe every time she puts them on. They have survived many washed
