I managed to get from Ebay a job lot of BNWT pinafores that are the official pinafore of dd's school. I am keeping all the ones that will fit her between now and yr 2 but I was going to advertise the rest in the local paper.

Is now too earlym will everyone still be away or will leaving it any longer mean they all go out and pay extortionate official supplier prices.

The retail at £15 I will be selling them for £6-£7. I won't be making a profit just covering my costs of what I paid for them.

Would you be better using word of mouth, Julie? You must know lots of mums - tell a few and get them to spread the word!

we had to get ours already -dd and ds school just sell out and ordering takes forever, so I would advertise them now!

Thats the thing Jan, I don't know many mums. The sizes I have are the smallest (so children just starting this September) and the largest (children in year 2 who I don't know from Adam). I drop dd off between 8.30am and 9pm and pick her up at 3.45pm direct to and from her class so the most I do is smile and hold the door open for any parents passing in the corridor.

Oh I see. Hm. Well the shops are filling up with back-to-school stuff already so maybe you could put one ad in now and another later if you still have some left?

Put a poster up at school, inflate your prices by 10% and say "10% donated to X charity or the school PTA" ?

I've completely finished getting dd's uniforms, last year i left it to the last minute and couldn't get anything.

I wouldn't be allowed to put a poster up at school. They have their own swap shop for 2nd hand uniform, for blazers and fleeces you get 50% of the resale value and the school gets the other half. They treat all other items as a donation and the school gets the entire proceeds. Oh, and they set the prices too so everything is priced the same.

What about a card in the local shop window?
