As we were coming home from picking up dh at the train station, a car coming the opposite direction but also turning into our street, pulled into the slip lane as dh went to turn. The other car ( 4 x4 with huge bull bar!!) had to give way but he kept going around the corner at speed, dh had to swerve onto the other side of the road, as a car came over the hill going the over way. THe 4 x 4 then sat right up our butt and almost shunted us into our drive as dh went to turn.

I was ropeable - I have a 3 yo and an 8 month old in the car who would have born the brunt of both accidents had they occurred - esp the 8 month old when the git failed to give way.

I got out the car, walked up the road and shouted in my snippiest teacher voice, EXCUUUUUUUUSSSSSSSEEEEEEEEEEEEEE ME!!! As the little spotty oik went to walk into his house.

I then told him he should watch how he drives - that I had two babes in the car who could have been seriously injured had he connected with us. NExt time he should think about that rather than driving like a lunatic - especially in a large vehicle with a huge bull bar. I was so angry and shocked at the near miss that I was shaking. This is a good case of someone not being able to handle their vehicle - lets drive like a lunatic when we have a 4x4 and a massive bullbar and stuff anyone who gets in our way!!!!!

I have half a mind to report him to the police for dangerous driving..... but we have to live near them and he has lots of little oiky mates.... shame as his parents are FAB!!!

I just hope he thinks twice before he comes flying around the corner again without giving way. I think it shock dh up - he went and checked the highway code - and he was in the right....

Good for you, young male drivers are often the worst, coupled with a 4x4 it's a recipe for disaster! I hate the way people in these huge vehicles think that they are untouchable and that they own the road....makes me so

nothing - he just stood there with his mouth open and I turned on my heel and stormed off to help dh get the dd's out of the car - we had visitors due any minute.

Can you have a word with his parents? If they're 'fab' they'll probably want to know about this.

i thought about speaking with his parents but I think one is in the hospital - two ambulances arrived there on the weekend, someone was taken to hospital - think it may have been the father, mum and eldest son drove off after ambulance ( was gardening and so saw all of this) but don't want to ask.

when I think about it the mum walks past in the morning with the dog - might just have a quick word and let her know how shook up I was and mention that perhaps because it is not signed he may not realise it was a give way ( marked on the road) so do it in a friendly just thought I'd let you know sort of thing...... do you think??
