Been given a phone number to contact someone who is/is going to be in London sometime soon.

The prefix is 07244 - is that a mobile prefix - the searches I've done on google indicate it's a German area code......anyone help??? I'm confused.

It is a German area code.
If you call it you'll need to dial 0049 first (and leave off the first 0 of the code, of course).
You could just try it - if you don't speak German most Germans speak some English and should understand 'sorry, 'I've got the wrong number' if necessary.

She's a German born woman living in South Africa I was given the number by someone in South Africa (confused yet) she's supposed to be in London - thanks for your help (and the code for germany incase it doesn't work as it is).

Like the texting in German idea.......but she's a photographer who's prints we're going to be selling on the website - wouldn't want to upset her
