we're currently staying for 2 weeks at bil/sil's with 8 week old ds. bil smokes. He only smokes outside in the garden, and if we're there too he'll move away or at the very least make sure the smoke is all blowing in the opposite direction. Is that enough though, or is ds still at risk? (occasionally I do get a whiff of it despite his precautions) We can't really ask him not to smoke even in the garden, but should I take ds and go inside when he smokes?

You will be fine in the garden, different if it was in the house or hundreds of people in the garden. I know we worry so much with babies but relax and enjoy the visit and be thankful BIL is showing this consideration.

no he'll be fine for a week or two and if you're that worried just dont sit downwind of him whilst he's smoking

should add he's banned from smoking in house by all family members, so he's not just doing it for us! but he is lovely.

ive never allowed people to smoke in our house regardless of the weather. if they're that desperate they can smoke outside.
