Rented Housing in Devon?

A friend of mine is looking for somewhere to stay, ideally near Totnes, but elsewhere could be fine. I think she'd ideally like to find a house for normal rental, but she'd also happily pay someone to borrow their house while they're away for summer holidays, while she tries to find somewhere more permanent.

There don't seem to be a lot of places for rent down there, and she's having a bit of a hard time, because her and her DH have moved about a bit (outside Britain), so credit checks are hard (so estate agents are hard).

She wants at least a 2-bed house with a garden. She has a DS who is nearly 4. Her parents are in Devon.

Any suggestions of websites or places to look?
