every single day?
i sit here and sit here and eventually ring him to see if he's coming home from work.

i mean... if it were me i'd be out of there asap.

maybe he just doesn't like being here. hmmm

charliecat Mon 11-Jul-05 18:54:51

eh? you have to ASK him to leave work? Is he the boss?

starlover Mon 11-Jul-05 18:55:40

no! he always says it's because he gets engrossed in stuff... and he doesn't wear a watch.

he's always the last one to leave though.. i mean he must realise how late it is when everyone else goes home!

charliecat Mon 11-Jul-05 18:57:16

goodness me, and i guess he gets paid overtime for this?

MrsGordonRamsay Mon 11-Jul-05 18:57:28

Because he probably really enjoys his job, if I know my DH is busy and has a big project on I ring him at 5.30 to remind him where he lives.

If he worked locally, I would leave it later, but a 5.30 nudge means he doesn't get here until 7.00

MrsGordonRamsay Mon 11-Jul-05 18:58:14

My DH doesn't even notice people packing up around him to go home

starlover Mon 11-Jul-05 19:02:06

cc... NO! he gets no overtime. if he did i wouldn't mind so much! lol

think you might be right MGR. i think dp is just glad the others aren't there annoying him any more! lol

what actually annoys me more is that i ring him and he'll say "i'll be there in half an hour"
so i start dinner and he doesn't turn up for like an hour or more!

charliecat Mon 11-Jul-05 19:11:37

that would drive me nuts.

!!!!!!

I'd bloody hit the roof if my DH did that WITHOUT getting over time.

start charging him a hourly child minding rate after, say, 6pm if he wasn't there to help out with the kids.

AuntyQuated Mon 11-Jul-05 19:14:19

snap starlover

i always wander whether he would ever return if i didn't ring

he says he stays cos he likes a frsh start everyday and not have to deal with yesterdays crap

when rushed i just send a text saying "etd?"

starlover Mon 11-Jul-05 19:15:50

AQ... i am trying this tonight!

no sign of him so far! am making myself some dinner.

emmatmg Mon 11-Jul-05 19:16:57

AQ, i send one saying "ETA?" to my DH

AuntyQuated Mon 11-Jul-05 19:17:13

oh, try that---i eat with the chldn then he reheats it in the microwave

my dh has just left; journey takes 40 mins

I don't have this problem as I pick DH up from work

Means I get the car during the day (we take him to work too!) and also that he's home at a reasonable hour each day He only works about three miles away, as opposed to before he got this lovely new job when he worked 33 miles away and often wasn't home till after 7pm, and I had no car during the day

DH's job does not pay O/T

He is in Scotland today, Dublin tomorrrow, Norwich on Wednesday (we live in Surrey) Thursday he is in the office, Friday morning he is in the office and on Friday afternoon "He is working from home".....................yeah right

He is playing golf and everyone knows it, but he left here at 5.00 a.m this morning and will leave here at 4.30 tomorrow. Wednesday is civilised he wont leave home until 6.30 a.m

starlover Mon 11-Jul-05 19:20:58

oh hm... i made him buy me a car! lol

he only works 20mins walk away (although he usually drives!)

i just know he'll come in and flop on the sofa and not move all evening because he's "so tired"

argh!

starlover Mon 11-Jul-05 19:22:24

MGR... sounds like my dp's job!!!

last year they were doing some work up in london and he was setting out at 6.30 in morning and not getting back til gone 10pm!!!

has he had any extra pay? no
any time off in lieu? no

didn't even get a bloody xmas bonus!

MrsGordonRamsay Mon 11-Jul-05 19:23:20

Yes but I am willing to bet that he is well paid ....

starlover Mon 11-Jul-05 19:24:55

he is reasonably well-paid...

but he could be even better paid for same job if willing to travel a little further!

starlover Mon 11-Jul-05 19:25:56

actyally what annoys me more is that he is the only one in the company that does this.

everyone else leaves at 5pm.

jut feel like they take advantage sometimes
