just been watching the news and doing some googl'in.

Here are some statistics:

US contributes 25% of world greenhouse gas emissions
EU contributes 13%

US population: 296.5 million
EU population: 456 million

and according to this site the average residential car engine size in the US in 1995 was "198 cubic inches" (3.27 litres) and looks to be increasing.

..so what exactly is Bush on when he says he can make no agreeements on climate change?

Well you know that they are paying around £2 a US gallon for fuel these days, shock horror? So obviously he feels they are already doing their bit for the environment, bless them.

They are not on the same planet as the rest of us.

Oops, not they're not, it's less than £1.50 - my source was unreliable. But it has doubled in the last few years, and the rest of the world neither exists nor matters for most of them.

I thought uncle tone was a poodle of the big business barons.

Uncle Tone can't make Bush do anything unless he was going to do it anyway.

Do you know the thing that kept me sane during the Iraq war was the idea that Bush would owe us one, as it were.

I always though TB was doing it for reasons of political expediency rather than outright conviction (though I thought he was wrong).

sigh.
