Just worried about the moving cost really, noone can help this time so no point getting a self drive van, just want to be able to load up one huge van and go......

kid Tue 05-Jul-05 18:23:05

check out the prices in the local paper for 'man with a van' They should be alot cheaper than companies.

sparklymieow Tue 05-Jul-05 18:26:48

I wan to do one load and be gone, don't want to have to come back and fro, also if they see we are back quite quickly they will realise that we are only moving about 15 minutes drive away but if we use one van and go they will think that we are moving miles away.

sparkly... how does the community care grant work? who is entitled?

sparklymieow Tue 05-Jul-05 18:34:38

if you look at the DSS site, just search Community care grants, it will tell you who is entitled,, its a grant from the social fund that you don't have to pay back

Starlover AFAIK you have to be in reciept of the main benefits like, Job seekers, Housing benefit, Disability benefit etc.

We applied for one when we moved but as we only get WTC and CTC we weren't entitled.

sparklymieow Tue 05-Jul-05 18:38:24

The lady said because I have two disabled kids I should be able to get it, also I am on Income support

starlover Tue 05-Jul-05 18:39:37

oh thanks. it's for my cousin. council have just found her a flat but no carpet etc etc and no white goods.
they're on full benefits, she has a 10m old baby and her dp can't work as he has cancer atm...

will look into it! thanks!

sparklymieow Tue 05-Jul-05 18:42:15

community care grants they should be entitled because he is ill.

sparkly, dont know what benefits you are on but if you are on income support you are entitled to have your moving costs paid for by the dss.

sparklymieow Wed 06-Jul-05 17:17:33
