check out the prices in the local paper for 'man with a van' They should be alot cheaper than companies.

I wan to do one load and be gone, don't want to have to come back and fro, also if they see we are back quite quickly they will realise that we are only moving about 15 minutes drive away but if we use one van and go they will think that we are moving miles away.

sparkly... how does the community care grant work? who is entitled?

Report
sparklymieow · 05/07/2005 18:34

if you look at the DSS site, just search Community care grants, it will tell you who is entitled,, its a grant from the social fund that you don't have to pay back

Starlover AFAIK you have to be in reciept of the main benefits like, Job seekers, Housing benefit, Disability benefit etc.

We applied for one when we moved but as we only get WTC and CTC we weren't entitled.

sparkly, dont know what benefits you are on but if you are on income support you are entitled to have your moving costs paid for by the dss.

sparkly, you need to phone dss up and if i remember rightly, they will ask you to get 2 quotes for removals and then they will send a cheque made out to the removal firm with the cheaper quote.
