just had a look at mine after an awfully long time....

references too if you want to...

Also how about any other skills you have under miscellaneous. or office skills like word, powerpoint, typing speeds etc?

incidentally, once I got over 30, I didn't bother putting my dob as it's not relevant and employers do not need to know (if they wanted to, they could work it out from dates I was at school)...

Do I have to put anything about skills aquired during previous employment ??? You know like time management, multi tasking etc ??

Mine has name, objectives - couple of bullets saying what sort of role I'm after (including "To inspire others to actualise their visions") a bit cheesy really, but someone sometime said it was a good thing to do. Then work experience (most recent first) again with four of five bullets highlighting the most important things that I did for each job. Then education, again most recent first. Then miscellaneous stuff, publications, professional qualifications etc. Then interests (this should be short, but give the impression that you are an interesting, but not scary person). Then references, then contact details. As oatcake says, you don't need to give your dob. Finally I have another sheet with all my short courses over the last couple of years - shows that you are doing personal development.

That's just mine of course, but I think it covers all the bases. Different industries have different things they are interested in, so it's worth having a look at an application form or two and cheking that you are not missing something.

Finally try to keep it all on two pages, and you don't need to go back more than 10 years for previous employment, or give huge detail on eduction (ie if you have a degree, you don't need to list all of your O levels with their grades

I am involved with recruitment where I work. When I select people to interview I go for CV's which are short and to the point. I like short bullet points. I look at higher education, but not interested in A-level type stuff. I like it if people have worked for some big names previously as it means they have already passed their assessments. I personally would avoid writing about yourself in third person, for example: "highly motivated individual...blah blah". We all think we are anyway, so doesn't mean anything really. I always look at peoples interests. So many women list their children as their interest. I know not very pc to say, but bad move. You already know they will be running home at 5 on the dot. Get the job and then run home at 5!

I suppose it depends on what sector you work in. I work in finance. Good luck!
