mears is thinking of leaving us. Action required NOW.

Without wishing to sound too shmaltzy, mears, for me, has been amazing. She has helped me over the last few months with so many things. In the darkest days after Bo died she responded to so many of my seemingly daft questions with wisdom, compassion and humour. Heck! She is The Queen Mum of mumsnet and we need her to stay.

She has posted saying that she feels she needs to get out and do more, she is working full time doing shifts, including weekends and nights (yuk) whilst also finishing her masters in midwifery. She is losing motivation and needs other interests.

So...... Action is now required. She also needs to shift some weight (I'm with her on this one) but I don't think this needs to be the focus as in my experience if you're busy with something that interests the weight falls off anyway.

Anyone prepared to help me in my campaign to save our mnet treasure? Ideas and 'Save our mears' posts required.

I've never been a pregnant MNer but I've read many of Mears' posts and I wish all my midwives had been like her. She's marvellous. If she feels drained by MN I can understand it (I do too sometimes and I only post crap, not useful and helpful advice) but she would be sorely missed.

Marthamoo - you are so right.... I use to post loads too on labour, breastfeeding and sleeping problems and I too am tired... it gets very very repetitve... you sometime spend a long time thinking and writing a reply and the poster doesn't always acknowledge it or gives you an update.... it shouldn't matter but it does....

Mears, please don't leave!

(Hi Bubble)

How about rationing your time on here and doing an Ask Mears column for MN Towers? I'll sift questions so you don't get lots the same and keep a database of them to make sure they're not repeated and make sure that there are some lovely FAQs for an FAQ page to link to for MN. Howzat for ideas?!

MN Towers? Any thoughts?

We all know her as 'mears the midwife' but I'd love to take her out for an evening and have a general yak.As this is (I think) geographically impossible, how about a virtual night out with mears? If we could talk to her about stuff in general, we may be able to come up with some (attainable) plans to make her feel better.

Hunker... a great idea re ask Mears page....
I think that'd be a great way to keep our fave midwife.

Otherwise.. where does Mears live?... i'm sure some local MN'ters would love to take her out (in RL..eeeeeek!!!!)

I think a Night Out With Mears is a wonderful idea.

Mears, I know you started joining on threads in a non-midwifey way, can you stay for that at least? I know you're totally brilliant (I've said before I once dreamt about consulting Mears) but you are so very nice too, perlease don't go.
