ks, i only have a hotmail address (apart from my work address that is). you just go to hotmail.com and register. erm that's it.

It doesn't cost anything.

You go to Hotmail.com and choose an email address and password.

Then you can send and receive email and use MSN.

It's run by Microsoft. It's web-based, so you always have access to your email.

you get loads of ads. and they sell your address to advertisers I think. thats how they fund it.

Hotmail is crap though - as is MSN generally. Bug ridden and prone to virus attack.

Do you have to get hotmail or could you go for something like Yahoo instead?

They don't send your address to advertisers - the stuff you get is spam - there are email list generators that will come up with every possible combination and then mail out - also if you ever use your email address on the web it is picked up by various pieces of software. Set your spam filter to exclusive and most of it will end in junk mail...

Thats what I do giraffeski. Yahoo has adverts but I have never had a problem with spam - hotmail is riddled with it.

Try Yahoo. Much better.
