She's announced that she is too old to be anything 'sweet' or 'baby-ish', so no fairies, princesses, butterflies etc.

Last year, alot of her friends dressed up as Hermione from Harry Potter, so that is out.

She has a vague idea that she'd like to be something 'scary', but doesn't know what exactly. Any ideas? I'm not particularly crafty or good at sewing, so nothing too complicated please.

A witch - black dress (one of your T-shirts with a belt?), green face, pointy hat (bought or made from sugar paper). Go to town on the mad hair.

A mummy - lots of loo roll wrapped round, or bandages if you have access to them; or cheaper still you can get rolls of white crepe streamer from card/party shops. Then perhaps the occasional dab of red around the fingers (obviously a killer mummy) and dark grey/black around the eyes.

DD is the same age and wants to be the Corpse Bride.

Thanks for suggestions.

Atm, she is leaning toward being a 'devil fairy', which is essentially a red/black fairy costume (with wings) and sparkly devil horn hair clips and pitchfork.

We'll see.....

sainsburys have lots of costumes that are not too babyish but also not too old/sexy looking - they all had 25% off when i went in yesterday. they had witches, devils, and devil cheerleaders!
