dd1 (5.5) threw bubble mixture at the cat

I was so cross that I said she couldnt watch Lemony Snicket (which she is despearte to see). Now I regret it as she is so contrite.

But I feel I must not go back on my word.

What would you do?

Don't go back on your word - or she'll remember and do stuff again thinking she'll get what she wants anyhow........

I would tell you to stick to your guns I myself would give in

I would stick with what you've said. It's out on dvd isn't it? so she can see it eventually anyway

Not let her watch it now. BUT if she does a job for you or something then she can redeem herself and you'll see if she's good enough

it is the dvd. dh got it out last night and we felt daft watching it without dd1 so he made a big deal about how she could watch it with him tonight while I put dd2 to bed.

well... my friend and I are going to rent it to watch ourselves!

seriously... stick to your guns... you can get it out again another time...

Stick to your guns. If you change your mind and give in you will be teaching her that she can be naughty and if she is sorry then there is no consequence to her. If she is good let her watch it tomorrow or some other day that you agree on. But don't give in just because she is sorry. Actions have to have consequences

Stick to your word, otherwise she'll think you don't mean what you say and that she can get around you in the same way another time.

No don't let her see it. You need to be consistent. You can let her see it another time, just don't tell her that today.

I asked her why she did it and she said because 'her brain wasnt working'

she does love the cat and I can't believe she really knew what she was doing but poor cat is walking around with sodden back legs as I rinsed out the washing up liquid

LOL at the 'brain not working'

A friend of mine told off her son for weeing where he shouldn't. he said 'but it wasn't me Mummy, it was my Penis!'

Oh dear, LOL, poor cat!
I think you have to let her see it tomorrow rather than today, though. Having said it. next time, try to think of something less EXPENSIVE as a sanction!
