How often do you go out socially?

How often do you go out socially and how old are your children? Trying to figure out whether my social life is excessive. DD is 2.5 and I go out twice a week for either dinner drinks or movies. 95% of the time I go out with with DP (as I 'lost' most of my friends when I had DD. I live and work full time in central London. DP goes out 4 nights a week this includes playing football and a least 1 work engagement.

i'm impressed you have the energy! i probably go out on average once a week with friends, but much less often with dp, maybe once a month. he goes out less often than me with friends, but stays out much later! i think i would get a bit twitchy if he was out 4 nights a week, but if it works for you that's great.

Good for you. Not at all excessive. I go out to Salsa once, sometimes twice a week (without DH) and I have bookgroup, dinner date, cinema or something each week (not all of them, one of them). Good for you to have you time and good for the kids to see that we have lives that don't revolve around them.

I go out with dh once or twice a month, and without about once a month. I guess if you are going out twice a week you must have an easy and cheap source of babysitting - that's really the main thing stopping us. Lucky you

Never, ok very very rarely.

Last year was supposed to go out for my birthday but had to cancel as no money.

Lucky you. I go out maybe once every few months without dh. Very rarely with dh (can't remember the last time just the two of us went out). We sometimes have friends over to us for the evening cos then we don't need a babysitter.

Probably about three times a year as a couple. My dd is 4, and I am very jealous of anyone who has access to enough willing babysitters to allow them to go out twice a week!

I got an au pair largely to do evening sitting. I share the Au pair with another family. She lives with us so I pay £20 a week and the other family £40. This is cheaper than a babysitter which would be £50 for 2 nights. I am more than happy to sacrifice privacy to have on tap sitter. Going out is my only hobby. I don't watch TV or read books (except Sunday paper)as I don't have the time. Nights I stay in often have to bring work home.

Depends... after dd was born dh and i made a point of going out and keeping in touch with friends... and we are lucky to have a good family babysitting network!

However, I'm pg again and most of my friends now are either pg / now have babies so our social life has wound down a lot!

I would say once or twice a week, at weekends, although this weekend we did sweet FA!

Our social life consists of friends over for dinner, BBQs in the summer, all pile into one house, kids all play, we all drink and play cards and just relax really. About once a month I go out on a "wild one" with the girls and spend all day the next day regretting it! DH goes to the pub a couple of times a week but for a couple of pints not usually for a session.

KBear, I would be sorely tempted, but I don't want him leaving notes in my knicker drawer

Fortnightly alone, never as a couple!

Can't remember the last time I went out in the evening.......

Since having the children (started nine years ago) dh and I have been out together probably about 7 - 8 times maximum. Dh goes out far more with work etc. I have never been out without him.

We go out socially together at weekends, more often that not most weekends. Didn't this weekend as it happends cos we blew it out.
I don't tend to go out in the week much these days. By the time I get in from work, put L to bed and eat it's too late and I'm too tired.

Not much at all. Skint most of the time. My dd will be 2 next week and I am pregnant - due December.

Will probably next 'go out' with my mother when she comes to help us look after the 2nd baby in the new year. We can do a boozy lunch after a shop. The best!

We have Freeview and get DVDs from one of those online set ups - unlimited DVDs for a tenner a month.

I had my first at 32 and believe me, I did more than my share of socialising before that. I don't miss it at all - prefer to do other things now like scrapbook, read, write in my journal, etc. I also like to go running, practice yoga and Pilates.

Well.... I WISH I HAD A SOCIAL LIFE!

Me and Dh have been "out" together twice this year of an evening and today was our first "lunch date" since we had jess - she's nearly 11 months old!

I go out probably once every 2 months with a mate and thats it.

Jess started nursery on a monday morning a few months ago to give me time to myself, and today was her first Full Day so as DH was off work, we went out and had lunch together - it was lovely. Really must rope dad into babysitting more often so me and dh get some "adult" time, especially as baby number 2 is due in October!

I am 35 and was 32 when had DD. I always used to party heavily before pregnancy. When pg had morning sickness for entire 40 weeks then never went out till DD was 9 months old (and I stopped BF). Feel like I lost 18 months of my life so am making up for lost time now.
