Thanks, Bubble. DS is now a pic in the bath, not in a towel.

Hi there all,

Sorry, I don't search for 'hub' in text or subject and I rarely look at active convos, so it took me a while to find this.

Was gonna post in July antenatal but I've got some catching up...

Yeah, dw felt unwell night before last. Unusally high bp. Took her into the hossie labour ward for monitor / trace / urine / bloods etc. She spent the night inside (which she hated as she was in the postnatal ward with all the shiny new babies when she was perhaps worrying about her health and that of bean, and also she doesn't like sleeping alone anyway), oh, and partners can't stay the night either...

Anyhoo, I cheekily faxed the named consultant in the AM to advise that Queen Dee had been admitted so that the consultant was 'in the loop' so to speak. (I didn't want her being ignored). The postnatal ward is not really geared to close obs of pg laydees (geddit ?) so I had to hassle the midwives a fair amount to attempt to get regular BP checks, traces, visit from a doc etc. I'm sure they all hate me, but she saw a doc at 2AM, with high BP, and I was not too impressed that her next visit was at 1:30 the next afternoon.

In the end as there was a possibility the bean was small (according to a palpating mw / doc) we were also referred for a scan. Bean was bang on for dates, with a slim tummy and long femur (we're short and fat) so she is officially miraculous.

I've got Dee on bed rest, meditative mantra music, and I'm checking her BP occasionally. She vomitted a few times in the night so I'm hoping it was just some odd bug, but we'll keep a close eye for any early signs of PE.

OK. I better go tend to her every need ('Hello' and 'Oprah' magazines).

x

Glad everything's OK - had been thinking of you all.

Dee's a lucky lady with you to fight her corner - and Beanette sounds beautiful

Morning,

I can't believe you've all posted well wishes. Thank you. You are so cliquey though... you should be ashamed.

I started a thread in pg for specific experience of maternal hypertension here , and we'll just keep on eye on the dw. I'm pumping her full of meditative mantra music till she approaches the bp of a hibernating hedgehog.

This is just a taste of the worry to come, isn't it...

Xena · 05/06/2005 10:06

Yes h2d she will worry you even more when she is out How many weeks pg is D now? It seems ages ago that you posted the scan pics.

Report
hub2dee · 05/06/2005 10:54

Hi Xena, she is 31+4 (or is it 5) today.

Time has flown by for us !!!

I tried to calm her down last night by having a 'new baby sess' - unpacking the mobile for the cot, and opening the activity mat thingy, and counting out the bodysuits and sleepsuits etc. etc.

It seemed to work.

Can't wait to have my bean and dw to care for. An expanding family !!!!! Tee hee.

I did offer you my cousin, Gski.

I'm sure, with time, your wit and wisdom and stunning looks will attract a fellow Giraffe and that you will lollop away into the Yorkshire sunset together, with interlocked horns and madam trotting between your legs.

Sneaky !!!!!! Listen, I've said I'll have a go at changing ds's nappy at Bubble99's nursery open day. You don't need to keep being nice to me.

Wotcha bubb.

You've taught me to be a paranoid fighter pain in the ass (kind-hearted, polite) person when it comes to care of pg laydees.

Such a dreadfully expensive lesson for you. XXXXXX

Meggymooooooo - we played with your dress last night to calm down dw !!!! Looked at some of the outfits, clothes we've got etc. We love your dress and hat. Thank you very much.

Ms yumyum - The Terrain ('My' Terrain) is in the kitchen. I haven't dared dirty the wheels, LOL !!! It is navy and smells plasticy. Must air it a bit. Can't wait to have the bean and show off to all the yummy mummies LOL.

Gski: Listen, all I could say is 'here's some woman I met on the Internet with a cute kid' - not exactly my finest pimping line is it ??? I need to see your full model portfolio and then I'll try again.

OK. You were from Yorkshire ??? Now you live outside London, is that right ? Do they even have the Internet outside London ???

NCT buddies just left us. We were working on a pain relief presentation - lucky TENS is pretty straightforward.

We came up with a fabulously clever summary using the letters of the word:

Total Control (as in not dependent on mws etc.)
Early (can use at home from earliest contractions)
No drawbacks (except that maybe it doesn't work for most people)
Safe

Oh, weren't we so damned clever.
