Am I A Tightwad?

I'm just putting some makeup on - a liquid foundation (Estee Lauder so not cheap) and I've had it stood on its head for days - to get every last bit out! That got me thinking - I do this with moisuriser, shampoo, use a lip brush to use every bit of lipstick out - turn ketchup, washing up liquid bottles on their heads - in fact anything I can squeeze the last morsel from, I do?

Does this make me a tightwad?

I put the washingup liquid bottle into the water to get the last bits out of it. and add water to the sahmpoo at the end too (after all the shampoo gets waterd down anyway). Thought everyone did this.

No. I do that, too. I was brought up by parents who remember the tail end of the Depression and WWII rations. Wasting things was tantamount to sin in our home. The lesson stuck and I use every last drop of everything.

NOt only do i do all of the things you mentioned jools, but if my foundation is in a tube rather than a bottle, i also cut the end off to get the very last off it out!

Also hand dss back his yogurt cartons etc and insist that he scrapes them out properly and not leave half in the bottom of it

I totally agree with you jools. Not a tightwad. Tightwad is when you won't share with other people or buy things you need.

I think if we all casually throw away the last bit of everything it's a terrible statement about how little we value the ecological cost of all these things.

Wish my dh were all as thoughtful as you lot, if the washing up liquid is nearly empty, he opens new ones, toothpaste, shampoo, toilet rolls, so we have two of everything and it drives me crazy!!!!!

So do my kids, ruthiemum. Seems I'm destined to use up the last of everything cos they think they're too good to bother

hah I was laughing the other day in the bath, I was sqeezing the last of the shampoo out and I was thinking if anybody could hear this they would think I have really bad farts, it sounded awful

lol can I also admit to cutting apples in halfs or quarters as I find that often the kids only eat a bit and that wastes a whole apple.

typical of the men (Anteater & Froggy) think I'm tight

lou - I've done that with tubes too!
