We need to find kennels to put our dog in in september. We have one very near us, went to have a look today and it was so awful i nearly cried at the thought of leaving my dog there!

So, if anyone knows of any good kennels near Wigan, upto about 40 minutes away, i would be very grateful. Also, what is normal for these places? Is what i saw today just the way these places are, or are there better ones??

Please help me find somewhere a bit nicer to leave my "baby"!!! Thanks.

I put this under "Pets" first, but nobody was talking to me, hoping i have better luck here! TIA.

I think you need to see several ones and then decide which one is the better one. I chosse the one we use because it's extremely clean, dogs are groomed everyday, taken out to exercise three times a day and because they make a discount as both dogs share a kennel. But it is very much like chosing a nursery you need to find the one that "clicks". Alternatively you can get a dog walker that may come to your house twice a day, feed the dog and turn the light on. close courtains, etc. but you should expect to pay a bit more.

We saw a lovely one today, but it was all booked up for september

Getting a bit worried about it TBH.

Yes, summer is a bit of a problem. I would reserve the second best even just if it's to have some back up in case you don't get the one you want (join the waiting list but continue searching )

I really don't know where Wigan is but you can also consider kennels that are in your going-away route (for example kennels near the airport or on the way to the place)

PS For busy times or Christmas holidays (when many kennels close), is wise to make bookings at least a couple of months before the trip if the kennel is very popular.
