She's into gardening, making curtains, cushions etc, music.
In the past we've bought theatre tickets, clothes, books.

Looking for something a bit special as it's her 60th. Any ideas please??

If you go for a bench, or a tree, you can personalise them with brass plates.

My mum and dad turned 60 within three months of each other last year - we bought them a picnic hamper and filled it with luxury "goodies" - how about that and one of those rugs with a waterproof backing?

thanks for the ideas everyone. She is already a member of the National Trust and has just about every gizmo possible in her garden already. I love the idea of the flower show tickets and will run that past DH tonight. The hamper idea sounds good too though.
Thanks again all.

Mckenzie, maybe a bit time consuming but for my mum's 60th I went through all my recipe books (I have loads), scanned in 60 recipes I thought she'd like, commented on each one and why I'd added it, scanned in photos of me, ds, dp cooking/eating, bound it and gave it to her. We had various sections; starters, fish mains, meat mains, veggie mains, vegetables, side dishes and pudding. It was time consuming and you need a decent printer and digital photography but could you do something similar, but maybe not recipes if she's not into cooking? I don't know, 60 gardening things or 60 photos in an albumn? Thinking aloud here, feel free to ignore me!

A flight in a hot air balloon?

I should be haring round the Derbyshire countryside at this very minute following the hot air balloon my parents should be in to celebrate their 60th birthdays. For some reason, this lovely warm, fairly still, blue-skied early summer's evening is not conducive to hot air ballooning and the trip has been postponed .

Never mind, we had our picnic at Chatsworth anyway, with all 4 grandchildren there, and hopefully we'll soon get to do it over again, with the balloon.

I think that is a fantastic idea www but unfortunately we dont have enough time to get something like that organised (just 5 days!). Keep thinking out loud though please. I like your style!

Hope your parents enjoy theirs when it happens.
