How can I prevent blisters? Is there anything I can do and/or wear to stop them occuring?

Seriously. This is becoming a really big issue for me on hot holidays.

In the past I have always gotten blisters, especially when it is hot and I am out and about. In New York this May I got blisters and ended up with plasters and moleskin in my shoes.

In Florida last week it was dreadful. I had blisters in double figures on both of my feet - on the sole, under each toe where they join my foot, between my toes, on the bottom of my little toes, ont he sides of my big toes, on top of my feet, ont he bottom of my heels, etc. I ended up with my feet in bandages as they were so bad. Each step was pretty painful, and by the end of the day my feet were burning hot.

I am off to Las Vegas next May and I will have to wear proper shoes at least for the day of my sister's wedding. I cannpt face another holiday f blister nightmare.

Basically the problem is caused, I think, by my feet being very hot, them sweating, they they get moist (yuk!) and they also swell up.

Please help me solve this problem!!!

Compeed blister plasters are great, and pink flesh coloured/textured so they are barely visible. They stick really well too, so should last all day.

Have tried blister plasters (not sure on make) and they don't work on smaller areas such as toes and under toes. I also can't predict where they will necessary occur, so short of plastering up my whle foot beforehand they are only okay when they blisters are already here. And IME they don't stop the pain of walking on the blisters.

Failing that (have heard wonders of compeed but I'm too cheap for me to try it out...)if barefoot a dab of vaseline works a treat (if slightly slippy slidey)

I was going to suggest wearing two pairs of thin socks under your shoes... but if it's a holiday problem, I guess it's happening when you've got bare feet and sandals?

Wouldn't Vaseline make my feet even more slippy and therefore even more likely to get blisters, as happens now.

I tried socks with pumps in New York and still got blisters.

I'm afraid that if you are going to walk a lot when it's hot, then you need to exchange style for comfort and wear walking sandals. They hold your feet so they can't rub, and keep your feet cool. I am really prone to blisters, but can walk all day in my Hi Tec pair with no problems at all.

For dress shoes, I use Compeed hydrocolloid plasters as soon as I feel the blister developing, and it stops them and takes the pain away. The gel spots also help

Look for leather-lined shoes or sandals. Cotton espadrilles are good too. Wear them in well before the big day, with plasters if necessary.

I struggle even in the UK with anything with toe posts.

In Florida this time they were caused by my very well worn Birks. Even the pair of Crocs I bought in desperation out there gave me blisters - although at least the spongy bottoms made walking vaguely better. In the past trainers and socks, and sports sandals bought out there have caused blisters. Argh.

Walking sandlas in Florida may have to be the olution next time, as not too bad with shorts. But with skirts and dresses???

I've started using the compeed blister stick too and they do help (particularly on toes). They don't make your feet slippy, I use it with flip flops.

It's not a complete cure as I still need the blister plasters with certain high heel shoes but it stops my flip flops and ballet pumps rubbing to the point of blistering.

I will give them a go. Maybe the ones I used were a different brand, as they were not good on toes.

I can't wear anything with toeposts. Well, not for more than 5 minutes anyway. And although I potter round in my Scholl sandals all the time, I can't walk in them for long as they pivot on the same bit of skin all the time and blister.

I admit that the walking sandals aren't the most stylish - I have these ones. But they don't look horrific with a skirt, and tbh, if I'm going to be walking lots, I don't care.

I think its the neoprene lining that really helps. It lets the sweat out and grips your foot

The rub on stick is definately worth a try on toes though. It doesn't have that gloopy stickiness that vaseline has! I can walk round all day in my ballet pumps if I've put that on first but there cause blisters in 15 minutes or so without it. As I discovered the other week when I decided maybe I'd bedded then in enough now!
